Re: Stolen Cameras

Don't you still have the recordings on your computer so you can see what happened?

Re: Stolen Cameras

All I can access are the still shots that were sent via email. Do cameras need to be hooked up to review video? This is puzzling to me.

Re: Stolen Cameras

The newer Alert cameras are no help if stolen and the computer was not on but  the older Wilife cameras require a computer so there are always recordings of what happened unless they steal the computer too.

I am gussing you have the Alert camera and if your computer was not on and the camera was stolen, then you won't have any backup recordings.

You can change the settings to have it email you video clips instead of pictures, upgrade to Platinum and pay for online storage, leave your computer on and things like that.

Re: Stolen Cameras

...Where can you set it to email video clips?  I only see text, snapshot and mobile phone optimized.

Hello,

Only Wilife did the video clips.

Sadly you cannot view any videos unless the computer was on or the cameras get turned back on and you have the premium services and can access them then.

One thing you can do is if you call Support they can give you the MAC addresses of the cameras then if you have pawn stores near you or you know of you can see if someone sold the cameras and then just look in the hatch where the camera's power cable plugs in. The label there will have the MAC address there.

Re: Stolen Cameras

I would like to add to this --- last weekend 3 of my 4 cameras failed for some reason - My cameras are 600 miles away. I was able to have a neighbor turn the circuit breaker on/off that I knew would reset the cameras.

I pay the 80.00 year for web access, so I knew when they came back on---- the problem was that all clips from before the failure were gone! So much for historical data -

It would be nice if the cameras had the ability to offload to an FTP server - which is located where I am.

This would be a wonderful addition b/c in my case, the SD cards didn't perform as they were supposed to - they essentially lost 3 months of clips - and I don't have an active PC at the location, so I rely on the SD Cards...  :smileyfrustrated:

Also additional features on the web access would be appreciated as I need to drive the 600 miles to make other adjustments (zoom/pan etc) .

I am putting this here, b/c a Logitech support tech is in this thread.

Re: Stolen Cameras

Actually you can setup your Alert cameras to load to Dropbox.

Here is a PDF about how it works:

Re: Stolen Cameras

CAT Thanks,

BUT --@ 80.00 a year then add 9.99 per month, when I already own my own FTP site and AND - have cloud storage with iCloud - give me a break -

These cameras are already some of the most expensive for regular "Joe" user albeit they have the best quality of all I have tried, they are not w/o flaws.

I have invested in 5 cameras - that's a lot of cash in today's economy.

I would like to know how to formally request software additions/upgrades --- we are the USER community and try to make the Alert system the BEST it can be.

Re: Stolen Cameras

FYI, this doesn't solve mcsincnj's issue.    I agree with mcsincnj, that the Alert systems need something in the firmware to upload to an FTP site, or have direct Dropbox integration built into them.

These current solutions still require a PC be online all the time.   Sometimes I just forget to turn the program on, and it takes resources, but it would be nice for the system to automatically syncronize to a dropbox account.
