Dear Logitech
I recently did a purchase on amazon during the rebate promotion between 1-2-11 thru 1-8-11. I purchased a
Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel on 1-6-11. Looking at the order amazon is saying it will take 2-4 weeks to ship with an estimated delivery of January 31, 2011 - February 12, 2011. I went with this purchase hoping to be able to use the rebate during this time, but amazon is the one delaying the shipment. I can show proof of when I made the amazon order, will I still be able to send in this rebate if amazon ends up sending me the wheel after the 7th of Feb? Will the rebate be honored for the purchase time?
I have purchased a few logitect products in the past, still have a 5.1 speaker system, usb mic/headphone, rumble pad, joystick and 3 or 4 lazer mice. I have always found your products to be great and well made. I would appreciate any response that you can give to my questions.
Thankyou.
Peter.

Hi Peter,
I've asked our rebate manager about this, and here are some of the conditions required for this rebate:

Hello AntonC,
I ordered the Driving Force GT from amazon.com on January 5, and I also became concerned about the ship date. I emailed amazon.com customer service about my rebate concerns, and got this response:
"While investigating your question about the rebate, I noted that the estimated delivery date for that item at the time you placed the order was February 11, which is after the postmark date of February 7 listed on the rebate form.
This rebate is offered by the manufacturer, and we can't alter the manufacturer's eligibility requirements.
I've checked your order and can confirm Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel is now back-ordered. I'm sorry about this delay--we certainly didn't expect this would happen."
As of this morning, my amazon estimated ship date is February 24 to March 7.
The rebate form states this is a Logitech rebate offered on products purchased through amazon.com. It seems to me that Logitech has offered a rebate on a product and is making it impossible for the customer to claim the rebate by not fulfilling the orders before February 7. If there is a delay in shipment, it seems only fair that there would be a corresponding shift in the date by which the rebate request must be postmarked.
I am interested in hearing about the trade and legal obligations that prevent your rebate partner from issuing rebates, because it seems like trade and legal obligations would more likely require your rebate partner to honor the rebate for products that are shipped late. As the FTC website says, "Many advertisers hire fulfillment houses to process applications and send out checks. That’s fine, but remember the buck stops with you [Logitech]." If I placed my order on January 5 (and the promotion lasted until January 8) and I will not be getting my Driving Force GT until March due to the product being on backorder, there are likely a lot of other amazon customers who ordered the wheel expecting the rebate but who will not get the wheel until after the February 7 submission date. I ask that Logitech reconsider its policy on this rebate.
Thanks.
Joel

I got an email from amazon on Friday saying that Logitech has extended the rebate submission date until April 8. I don't know if it was a coincidence that I asked my question on the same day, or if Logitech moved that quickly based on my comment, but either way, that's great customer service. Thanks again.
