Hi,
sorry, I first posted this in the PC gaming board and only then realized that this here would be the appropriate place for feedback. Please exuce my double posting, the other post can be removed.
I just recently bought the G940 flight system and am very happy with it. However, there are a few ideas for improvement I would like to share:
- Suggestion: Some games don't support multiple devices, only one. In such cases, thrust and rolling (or similar controls) can only be mapped to the analog hat or the trims. Since the trims lack any physical center mark, they are not very suitable as control. It would be great, if you could remap the axis of the throttle or rudder devices to axis of the joystick. Say: define the rudder as one of the trim axis, which would allow you to use the pedals in that game. So far, axis remapping is restricted to axis of the same device.
- Suggestion: it would be nice if the two toe brake axis could be remapped to the rudder axis in combination: left toe break mapped to 0 - 50% of the rudder axis, right toe break mapped to 51 - 100% of the rudder axis. Position zero (not pressed) would be mapped to 50% of the rudder axis (neutral). Up to now, it's only possible to map one toe break to the full rudder axis. This is hardly useful, since the 50% position is very hard to find. Ideally, the two pedals could be combined into a second rudder axis, in addition to the real rudder axis.
- Bug, rudder axis properties: When a dead zone >0% and/or sensitivity <50% is set, the pedals will no longer center at 50% but rather at 49.61%. This does not sound like much, but can be rather annoying if the rudder axis is set e.g. to the rotation of a space ship. Workaround for now: don't use a dead zone or sensitivity lower than default for the rudders. A fix would be nice, especially allowing decreased sensitivity!
- Bug: If a game does not support force feedback, the centering "spring" is set to maximum force, which is hardly usable. This has already been reported in 2009 and still did not get fixed. Workaround: pull the plug and loose any centering force. (Some more advanced solutions suggest to reduce the overall force to a minimum and leave the controller settings window open or something alike, to get some minimum centering force)
- Suggesiton for successor: detent for the trims, R1 and R2. This would allow more flexible usage of these axis (without having to look down at them to find the center again).
Thanks very much for considering this and best regards

Hi Spitfire_ch,
I believe #4 has been resolved in the latest software and firmware update. You can now adjust stick forces by profile, and the adjustment affects the forces of the stick, even if there is no force feedback in the game.
- Open Profiler
- Click Menu item "Profile"
- Click Select Profile and choose your game's profile
- Click Menu item "Edit"
- Click Specific Game Settings
- Check the box "Use Special Force Feedback Device Setings
- Slide the Overall effects setting to a lower value
- Check the Enable centering spring box, and reduce the valus there too.
- Click "OK
The stick should now have reduced forece settings when the game profile is loaded.
Regarding the rudder axis properties, you may be able to improve the performance by adjusting the hysteresis of the axis. Go to Game Controllers, select Logitech rudder pedals, click properties, click settings, click hysteresis, and adjust hte hysteresis to a higher number.
I suggest that you add a very small (1-2%) dead zone ot the rudder pedals. This will overcome the .39% offset in your pedals, and is unnoticable in use.

Hi Mark and Anton,
thank you very much for your replies, especially the hint regarding #4 - I will try that.
In terms of rudder offset: it's not a physical glitch, it's rather a software glitch. As long as I don't add any dead zone (0%), it centers perferctly to 50% of the total range. Once I add anything above 0%, it centers to 49.61%. Same is true if I decrease sensitivity to a value below 50%. If I deactivate the profiler software, it again centers at 50%. Not a huge issue once you know how to avoid it (the solution was suggested by a member of Logi's support team), it's just a pitty you can't use sensitivity below 50% (unless the game itself offers a dead zone setting, which can be used to mask the offest introduced by the profiler software.)
I noticed another thing, when playing the Heresy War Demo (some new space fighter game): Although it's a new game, it does not support multiple control devices, and hence you are stuck with the joystick device. To make this a little more comfortable, I tried to switch the Trim 1 axis with the Mini Y-axis. This worked only partially: I could control the Trim 1 axis with the mini-stick, but I could not control the Mini Y-axis with trim one or any other trim. Is it possible, that the game somehow interferes with the profiler, or could this be a glitch in the profiler? I have to see if this also occurs in other games.
Btw., I am using Profiler 5.09 on Win XP 32 bit.
Best regards

Hi again,
I tried your suggested steps to reduce the centering force in a non force feedback game (Evochron Legends). Unfortunatley, it did not work - the game simply ignores the settings and maintains maximum centering force. The specific settings do work for games that support FFB, but apparently not for games that don't support FFB - at least not on my machine.
I could also confirm the issue with remapping the Mini-Y-axis to another control than the Mini-Joystick. I tried to map it to Trim1, Trim2, Trim3, while setting the Mini-Joystick to another axis or not (tried all combinations), but to no avail. The Mini-Y-axis only works on the Mini-Joystick. The Mini-X-axis, however, can be remapped easily to any other axis. Identical symptoms appeared in two independent games (Evochron Legends and Heresy Wars). So it might be a bug.
Could you please forward this to the product team, too? For games, that don't support multiple devices, it would be really helpfull if you could at least freely switch axis on the joystick device - which already works, except for the Mini-Y-axis.
Thank you very much and best regards

With the joystick x and y axes arranged, I think it would be cool to talk about the next steps would think that this was the final HOTAS:
-Lack precision throttle and pedals I think it could be increased.
-Warn users that the problem of R1/R2 is a hardware problem that is solved by opening it and unscrewing a screw, I myself have done and the result has been outstanding.
-If you improve the THROTTLE, most end up complaints from users. LOGITECH Please act and not leave this product shot, be aggressive counterattack against the HOTAS WARTHOG
LOGITECH, be serious

Anton,
Could please get one of the Logitech employees to respond to the current G940 issues over in the gaming forum please? Since updating the Firmware to 1.42, IL-2 is totally borked. No matter what I do in the profiler, the stick stays rock hard. The only way I can comfortably use the stick is unplug the power supply.
I need some help here!!
