Hi gwencourt,

It is normal for the battery to expand slightly over time. However if you are not able to fit the battery cover on then this becomes an issue. I was able to check on your account, and see that you have contacted our Support team and they have processed a replacement battery for you.

Hi mg890,

I would recommend you contact our Support team to help resolve this issue. As I mentioned to gwencourt, your battery likely needs to be replaced. Please feel free to send me a PM if you would like some assistance getting in contact with them. I'm sure they will be able to resolve this quickly for you.

Kind regards,

Mark

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

I recently had the same problem, my remote is 880. I do need a battery and a battery cover, because I can't use that anymore, the clips have been broken...

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

I am having the exact same issue! Replaced the battery last April and now it's swollen again, the back won't close correctly and it's not holding a charge from one day to the next. It's obvious from the other messages that this is an ongoing issue with this remote and battery. Since my warranty is up on my remote, I'm left with buying another battery again. Since I can't even get to customer support without paying now, perhaps Logitech would like me to start blogging my displeasure at spending over $300 for a defective remote.  A recall should have been issued for this problem!!!

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

We had the same issue of a swollen battery with a Harmony One remote (out of warranty), and we followed MarkDU's advice (above) to contact customer service. They got back to us in 48 hours and resolved the problem, so it may be worth sending an e-mail. Hope this information helps.

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

Hello,

I have the Harmony 885 and the same problem as above. I think these remotes all have the same battery. I have this remote for almost 2 years and the cover of the battery is now completly broken. The shop where i bought it gives a 2 year warrenty, but they no longer sell this model. The remote itself is fine, and im very pleased with it except now the battery has swollen.

The battery duration is also very poor. I have contacted Logitech and send them a few photo's of the swollen battery and broken cover. I hope they can replace the cover and battery.

It apears something is wrong with these batteries.

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

Logitech customer support was very quick to respond and resolve my problem. They did acknowledge the battery company they were using produced faulty batteries. They sent me a new one and it's working perfectly!

Re: Swollen Battery for Harmony 890 Remote

I'm more concerned about a possible battery explosion of sparks or charger shorts causing a fire while I'm not home.

Marc, is that a possibilty?
