Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

had the same problem. Try checking control panel-sounds-audio to make sure the speakers are set as the default device

Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

Thanks laughingeye!!

I had the same issue and I found it here:

control panel --> sounds and audio devices --> audio --> sound playback

Looks like it used to set it automatically but some recent update to XP might have changed that. Works like a charm now. =)

Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

Trying to help my friend with these . . . Dell Inspiron 820 with Windows XP Pro. Logitech speakers are set as the default device in Control Panel > Sound Properties. Here's the kicker: system sounds (error beeps, warnings, mouse 'clicks', system shutdown / startup, etc.) are played loud and clear through the V20s BUT music and video do not play at all through them (using Windows Media Player 11)--just through the tinny laptop speakers. ?!?!?! Makes me wonder if all those who have complained that there is no sound actually have system sounds playing but not application sounds (e.g., Media Player, Winamp, etc.) The fact that these speakers depend on a Windows driver (i.e., Logitech doesn't supply one) really gives me pause. Based on all the comments, I think it's time Logitech came to the table with something to offer V20 users.

And another customer of the V20 with no sound. I purchase...

And another customer of the V20 with no sound.

I purchased them today for my iMac - no sound.
I try them on my PC with XP Home, and after checking all setting - no sound.

I read good reviews about the V20, but seeing there are so many people with the same problem - no sound - I am disappointed... Logitech!!! What is going on here??

What do I do now?

Okay, computer no.3 : Windows 2000, SP4.

Windows found new hardware: "Logitech USB speaker" and a "USB Device".

I see the speakers in the Device Manager. All settings are correct. And yet, no sound (I am playing a song while I write this, and I hear no sound). Something is _definitely_ wrong with this kind of speakers.

Logitech!!!

I want my money back...

Re: And another customer of the V20 with no sound. I purchase...

Talked to my friend today (2 days later). He said the speakers are now working. Go figure . . . The only thing I really changed was the Sound Playback "default device" in Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Audio tab. We even rebooted a couple of times immediately after changing this setting (with the speakers plugged in and then unplugged at boot up) and they still didn't work. So maybe wait a few days, reboot a few times, let the tubes in the V20s get up to temperature, and see what happens. They are nice when they work (which is probably cold comfort to you right now . . . )

@knickersinaknot,

May I ask what exactly you changed there (in Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Audio tab)?

Even with the "Logitech USB speakers" selected, I hear no sound. I have marked/unmarked about every single thing I possibly could mark/unmark. No sound, though.

And even if it were that kind of incorrect setting, that does not explain why my V20 speakers stay silent on my Mac with OS X "Tiger" and on my PC with Ubuntu 10.7 (that is linux), too.

I received an answer by email from Logitech. No change, still no sound. I wait for their reply.

Maybe I should just dump these and simply go buy the other speakers from Creative that I first saw... (Were € 20,00 cheaper too, for that matter).

Re: And another customer of the V20 with no sound. I purchase...

It seems that everybody has some troubles with those speakers. And that everybody is especting some kind of answer from logitech, since a long time.
Couldn't they simply answer on this forum just to say if it would be (or not) one day possible to use those things we bought , and (as they continue to claim) should be working perfectly.

As I don't have too much money I cannot buy new ones and as I don't want to sell the V20 (as I am not sure they work) , I have to wait the day they will work correcly. For now, I can't do nothinng else than something for the google searchers.

DON'T BUY LOGITECH V20 LAPTOP NOTEBOOK SPEAKERS USB POWERED. THEY WOULDN'T WORK. AND LOGITECH IS NOT CONCERNED BY THE WAY THEIR PRODUCTS WORK.

N'ACHETEZ PAS LES ENCEINTES LOGITECH V20 POUR ORDINATEUR PORTABLE, CABLE USB INTÉGRÉ. ELLE NE MARCHERONT PAS. ET LOGITECH SEMBLE NE PAS SE SOUCIER DU BON FONCTIONNEMENT DE SES PRODUIT.

Re: And another customer of the V20 with no sound. I purchase...

Krisdee,

I changed the "default device" in the drop down menu in "Sound Playback". It had been the Dell device (whatever that was . . . ) and I changed it to the Logitech USB option. Hope that helps!

Re: And another customer of the V20 with no sound. I purchase...

Well I, too, would advice against buying these V20 USB speakers. It cost me 60.00 euro (about 95 USD) for something that does not work (if only I had known...).

Maybe I should just throw them in the trash and instead go buy those (non-USB) speakers from Creative that were there too...

I wait for a second (email) answer from Logitech, but I am gravely disappointed.
