Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

Mike!!! I'm getting the same issue. Running Vista on a Toshiba Satellite P100-347. After seeming to install correctly first time, every time I now plug these in I get a USB unrecognised device error. Unlike some lucky others who got sound for 2 minutes, mine have never worked.

You saying in an earlier post that we should check Toshiba's implementation of the USB specification is perhaps the most unhelpful support comment I think I've ever read! Im a programmer and I wouldn't expect to understand how Toshiba has implemented USB. How on earth do you expect your everyday PC user to understand the technical jargon used to describe computer interface implementations???
Not only that but Why the hell should we? Everything else "just works" including my Logitech wireless USB mouse, my Logitech USB headphones and my Logitech USB webcam and Logitech USB Gamepad. See a pattern here Mike? Once I buy a product from a company and that product proves to be reliable and good support is provided in the event of a fault, I tend to buy more products from that company. The total lack of support for these speakers and the useless posts I've read here about this problem dating back to 2007 have completely ruined that reputation I'd built up in my head. Its patently obvious its a driver issue. Even when they didn't work I wasn't angry as I expected to be able quickly find and download a fix or updated driver. Seeing the amount of negative posts about these speakers leads me to believe Logitech is selling faulty goods and refuses to admit to the problem and issue a fix. They're going back to the shop tomorrow, and believe me I'm not buying Logitech again and If I can help it, neither will anyone else I know!

SOLUTION for mac users, go onto system preferences, choose sound under hardware section and then click on output and change from internal to logitech speakers. you might need to play around with the output level and the volume in iTunes, but otherwise fairly simple. Not sure why cldnt logitech give that answer?

Reply to mikewharton. Nope.

Mac, Windows, Linux.

Those speakers.
Do.
Not.
Work.

---oo---

Anyone thinking about buying the Logitech V20 USB-speakers and reading this: heed this advice - do NOT buy them, they will NOT work, you WILL lose money, Logitech will NOT (be able to?) help you.

Oh, I receive replies in my Inbox, so I may as well warn other wannabe customers who might read this thread.
If Logitech deletes this message, then they will prove that something is wrong with the V20.

Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

I agree NOT to buy the Logitech V20 USB-speakers. I live in Dublin and rang the US at 001 646 454 3200 to try and get help with this problem, which seems amazingly to be going on for years. The guy who answered was most unhelpful and appeared to know little about either computers, operating systems let alone speakers. He was a total bluffer asking me to send them back to the store without even asking did they work on another computer etc. He actually was so rude he actually hung up on me when I said many other people on chat rooms are experiencing this problem. I rang again to complain and asked for a supervisor. The second person said they have no Logitech supervisors working that day. I was insistent, mainly infuriated at the first guys ignorance and careless attitude. They put me on to someone else who said it had nothing to do with them but blamed Microsoft. A bit like Ferrari blaming Michelin if you buy a new car with a flat tire. At least he enquired if I have Vista SP1 installed.

Logitech come ourt of this pretty bad with rude unhelpful people at the end of their phones.

Bottom line - do NOT buy them, they will NOT work, you WILL lose money,

Return them as Logitech certainly will NOT help you in any way. It is the ONLY way they will learn to treat their customers with respect.

Re: Logitech V20 Speakers - No Sound

Logitech- I'm seeing a lot of posts about the same problem I'm having.  I'm technical so please avoid the replying with waste my time advice like "check the power and volume."  The problem is they work intermittently.  It's a software problem.  I'm running current windows XP on lenovo T61.  Windows auto detected and loaded something when I plugged them in.  Logitech website doesn't have a driver so I'm not sure what else to do but return them.  You guys have a short time to reply and provide me the fix or they get returned. tick toc... :-)
