I have just purchased some V20 speakers for use with my Windows XP laptop and I have just set them up as described in the manual and no sound comes out of them.

They seem to half work, the blue light comes on and the controls on them work but no sound comes out of them? When I plugged them in to my laptop Windows XP automatically detected them and installed the required drivers. They are set as the default playback device so I don't understand why no sound comes out of them?

I have also tested them on my Windows Vista desktop and I get no sound out of them either.

Any ideas?

Hi there. Make sure the volume level is adjusted to the appropriate level and its not muted. Try adjusting the volume from the speakers itself and also via the volume control on your computer.

If you still are unable to get any sound out of them, return to the point of purchase to get a replacement.

I am having a similar problem. I am running Ubuntu Linux but they were working fine until just now. Sometimes they are detected and sometimes not. But either way the light on top comes on and the top buttons work but the sound still comes out of the built in speakers. Like i said they were working perfectly on linux till just now.

Please test it on a system which its designed to work on (Windows/ Mac) and verify again

I have successfully used these speakers on Windows XP but they will not work on Vista.  Vista tries to find drivers and gives up leaving the speakers as an unknown device.

Are there drivers for the V20 speakers that work on Vista?

The Logitech V20 speakers are, according to the advertising in this URL, Vista compatible.

I'm having a similar problem. I have Mac OSX Leopard running. The speaker light is on, the volume controls adjust the mac speaker and when I have itunes open, the speaker controls work for itunes, but there is no sound coming from the logitech speakers! Then I tried it using windows as I've also got parallels desktop running Windows XP and it WORKS for windows and I get all the appropriate sounds from windows, but nothing from the mac side. The two operating systems are installed on the same computer. No sound if just running mac os but controls work, sound from windows if running both mac os and winxp. Any ideas?

Yes, my Logitech V20 speakers work fine with my Dell D820 laptop running XP Professional

They do not work with my Toshiba laptop running Vista.

This is clearly a compatibility issue. Logitech, you have failed to provided functioning software support that works with Vista -- please resolve, or I will return these to the store where I purchased them.  (purchase just last week)

I will also post widely on many consumer opinion services (consumer reports, epinions, pcworld, cnet, etc.)

Ashar again -- So I thought I got a bad set of speakers and returned them. I recently bought new ones and unfortunately its the same problem. I bought these speakers because they had good reviews which they apparently do not deserve. Logitech, please post a response or a fix for making these speakers work with Mac OSX Leopard.

If there is no fix then it is FALSELY stated on the box under system requirements that these speakers will work with Mac OSX or higher. I will have to put my comments on the reviews which led me to buy these speakers otherwise.

Same problem, speakers have been working great for about a month now and now I have no sound but the buttons work.  Also when plugging them up to my Toshiba windows XP laptop, sometimes they are not recognized.  Is there an updated driver available?
