Pure-Fi Mobile PC volume control

[ Edited ]

Hi all- trying to set up Pure-Fi speakers on Tosh Portege R500 running Win XP Pro.

If I connect via 3.5mm jack, it obviously uses Tosh audio device & I have volume control in the system tray.

If I connect via USB (the preferable option as the laptop will power the speakers too), it recognises the Pure-Fi as the audio device- BUT I have no volume control in the system tray. The volume control in the properties for this device are "grayed out".

I couldn't find a separate driver for this device; does anyone know how I can get the volume control on the laptop while the speakers are connected via USB?

TIA; Julian

Just as an update, the volume control works from within the various apps (Media Player etc.) and of course the hardware buttons on the speakers themselves when connected via USB- it's just the volume control in the system tray & main audio properties that's unavailable. Not major I guess, but would be nice to sort it if someone has an answer.

Hi Julian,

This is the way the Audio Control Interface was impimented in the Pure-Fi Mobile, so the Mixer does not control the volume or mute. I have no idea why it was done this way. There may have been a conflict with another of the modes supported by the device.

The drivers are native to the Operating System.

I hope this answers your question.
