Z-5500 Speakers, New Installation, No Sound

Hi I have a 30 year backgound in building and repairing computers but I can't get these to work. I can plug other speakers into my computer and they work just fine. The control pod is never able to connect for some reason. I suspect the control pod is bad but I can't verify it. I've got the onboard decoder disabled.

I'd hate to have to re-package and send these speakers back if I'm only forgetting something in the set-up.

Any idea's?

How are you connecting the speakers? Optical, Coax or Direct?

What type of sound card do you have in the computer?

Have you successfully used other speakers and if so how were they connected?

You also said you can plug the speakers into the computer and they work but the pod does not. As far as I know the speaker set will not work without the pod working correctly. Can you give  few more details on that?

Re: Z-5500 Speakers, New Installation, No Sound

Thanks for the reply.

I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality 7.1 and I'm using the analog inputs. (Black, Green and Orange) I have successfully connected a generic, low cost set of 2.1 speakers, using just the Green analog wire and they worked just fine.

I must have mistated the symptom. I CANNOT plug the Z-5500 speakers into the computer without the pod. When I attach the speakers (through the pod) to my computer, I press the power button on the pod and it changes from orange to blue for approximately 10 seconds while it searches for a connection. Then the display goes black and the power button returns to it's orange color.

I am going to try to attach them to a laptop and see if I can get them to work that way.

Re: Z-5500 Speakers, New Installation, No Sound

My guess is the the POD is not working right. I have Z-5500 and the button will remain blue even with no sound source connected. You might want to give Logitech a call.
