Z Cinema Remote Compatible with MCE Remote Commands?

Hi All. I just bought the Z Cinema system for my main work desktop computer in my study (so far so good). However, I've also built a computer this week for home theatre use in another room. I chose a case - the Antec Fusion - that has a built-in IR receiver that is "Vista and MCE-compatible". I was hoping to use the remote from the Z Cinema system to test this capability. (Later I plan to buy a Harmony to tie all my components together.) However, the IR does not recognize any commands from the Z Cinema remote. (The remote works perfectly with my Z Cinema speakers.) The Antec tech support says the Z Cinema remote must not be sending MCE-compatible commands. Can anyone confirm that the Z Cinema remote is not compatible with Vista or MCE-compatible IR receivers built into media PCs? Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Z Cinema Remote Compatible with MCE Remote Commands?

Hi Pete,

The Z Cinema remote passes propritary commands to the receiver in the speaker which are in turn translated to Windows/MCE commands to send though the USB connection to Windows and MCE.

Thank you for your post.

Re: Z Cinema Remote Compatible with MCE Remote Commands?

Thanks Mike for clarifying this - although it wasn't the answer I had hoped for.:smileysad: Not sure why Logitech would choose not to make a remote with standard Windows/MCE commands instead of going to the trouble of creating proprietary commands which are then translated to Windows/MCE commands - unless Logitech just didn't want people to be able to use it with other products.

But thanks anyway.
