Z4 equal quality in 5.1

I'm looking to upgade my audio system from 2.1 to 5.1.  I've got a plan, and i'm going to be making an audio switcher that, at the flick of a switch, will change my audio from my speakers to my headphones.  I also want a microphone on the switcher, so that's going there too...

However, at the moment my on-board sound only has 3 outputs/inputs (interchangeable by software) so i'm getting a new sound card for the system so i can have 3 outputs for audio and still have room to plug in my mic.  And i thought, while i've got enough room on my new sound card, i may as well upgrade to 5.1

Here's the question:

I currently have the Logitech Z-4's and i LOVE the sound quality the comes out of these terrific speakers.  I want to know what sort of 5.1 system (without spending too much of course) would rival the quality of the Z-4.

Here's the limits:

I cannot afford something like the Z5500's (as much as i'd love them), but something like the X-530's doesn't really give the quality i'd like (so i've read)...

So, what ideas does everyone have in mind?
