I have just bought a new PC. Dell Optiplex 760 with a Dell Screen . I also bought the Z313 speaker system and have plugged it in but cannot for the life of me get them to play the sample m,usic on the PC. Firstly I heard a loud buzzing when I plugged the speakers in and turned the little controller on. I am plugging the little green jack into the green AUDIO OUT hole on the back of the scrfeen as I assume this is where it goes ? At the speaker icon on my desktop io have a red cross and if i right click ans select playback devices I have "audio /conexant HD Ausio not plugged in". If i plug my new logitech headhones in to a USB i can hear the music through the headphones and if i plug the z313 system into my old laptop it plays fine. I guess I have to tweak a system setting on my new PC but I have no idea where or what ? Can anyone help me please ?

Hi jgarnett,
The speakers should plug into the green audio port on the back of the PC tower rather than the screen.

Ok with the speakers plugged into the tower, do you have any new devices shown in Playback Devices? Typically the speakers are just listed as "Speakers <name of your soundcard>", if the speakers are shown, ensure that they are set as the Default Playback Device.
If the speakers aren't shown, since you've already verified that they work on your laptop, you may want to try contacting Dell for support, there might be some settings they know of, or you may have to reinstall the soundcard drivers or something like that.
