I'm attempting to connect my Z623 system to my TV, and am curious how this should be done.
I have a new Panasonic plasma, that's connected to my cable box, and a standalone Blu-Ray player (not a home theater in a box or anything like that) that's also connected to the TV directly.
Should I be connecting these speakers directly to the TV and turning the TV speakers off or should the speakers be connected directly to my DVD player? Both?
Thank you very much!
PS: should I be using any cables besides the standard RCA's?
PSS: I recognize the red and white for meaning left and right audio, but what is the green? Mic?

I just realized that my Panasonic TC-P50C2 only had a digital audio output that's optical. Is there a converter to go from this to RCA or 3.5mm (assuming I should plug the Z623 directly to the TV)?

Since the Z623 is a 2.1 audio system. Stereo with an added sub.
There are converters made to take the optical output and convert it to 2 channel analog signals.
A Google search should find an assortment of them.
I have seen two types.
One just converts an optical stereo signal to analog.
If your TV is outputting an optical Dolby 5.1 signal. They also make converters that decode it and mix it down to stereo analog your Z623 can use.
I have no personal use data on either examples and I am sure there are other brands and models available.
