G51 Speakers - Only Front Two speakers and sub working

I purchased my G51's recently, and haven't been able to hear the back two speakers nor the center. It is very frustrating because I use my monitor as a tv as well and I was hoping that this would give me full surround sound, however it seems not to be. I tried buying a different sound card, however it does not work. My motherboard does have 5.1 surround sound so it should be working just fine, however it is not.

My motherboard is the asus m4n82 deluxe, and the seperate card I bought was a Diamond XS51 5.1 Sound Card. I have up to date drivers on both of them. Please help!

I have tried to set up the 5.1 within the sound menu, and make sure that it's setup to 5.1, which it is, and when I test, the front two are the only two that come through in the test.

if you're using windows vista or 7, go to control panel, sound, highlight soundcard, and click configure. set it at 5.1 surround and click the test button. if everything sounds from all speakers, that means the speakers has no problem.

Not to be rude,

but did you read my entire post? The last line referes to exactly what you're talking about.

Thank you for trying to help though. I have no sound in the two rear speakers, and the center plays the bass tone for some odd reason. Do you know of a solution for that?

well im sorry i missed that line. some people here have trouble because of upmix issue, i mean some people forgot that some audio materials only have stereo sound. without upmix its not gonna be 5.1. or another case is that people plug the cable according to the cable color, which is not always correct.

assuming you're setting the G51 correctly and you can't even get the 5.1 working in the control panel, i'd say your best bet is returning the set. before doing that you might want to meddle with the matrix button.

regarding the center speaker, you can try using the option "swap center and subwoofer" in the soundcard menu and see if it helps
