I am seriously doubting the Logitech Z623--Beware

I have been a Logitech faithful for the last 4 years, but I think it is time to switch to another company's speakers after my Z623 stopped working...AGAIN.

I got a Z2300 in January 2009...that lasted for 3 years until they stopped working, which is chill. I got it replaced with the Z623, and then all the problems started.

The first unit of the Z623 came in February of 2011, and right out of the box, it had a constant crackling/loud popping noise in the speakers and no sound could be played. I returned it right away, and got a SECOND unit, and that worked until October of 2011, only 8 months of use. Same problem again, the speakers could not play anything and was crackling. I then got a THIRD unit, and that lasted until today, yes that is a grand total of 4 months. That's THREE Z623's that I have gone through in ONE YEAR.

Logitech keeps on saying that the speakers I have are defective, but after having three broken in the last year, I think its probably something much deeper.

I do not do anything crazy with my speakers. In fact, I never play it too loud, and have the bass level at 50%, nothing more (I live with roommates and in an apartment complex so I cant ever play it too loud).

WHATS THE DEAL LOGITECH???

Best thing to do might be write a letter to their corporate offices letting them know how you feel.

I plan on doing the same thing with regards to the 906s, as well as the 5500s. I've had  many of the same issues you describe...actually for years and years and years. But I always stayed loyal because of Logitechs great customer support.

The admins here are just here to trouble shoot simple things, if they don't have an answer, they refer you to calling/emailing Logitech support. It is out of their hands, theyre just doing the jobs they were hired to do. However they all probably feel the same way about the 906s and other issues people here describe- and more than likley smirk when people make posts like yours...hoping one of the higher ups read it and get a clue.

I agree 100% with you though, Logitech has really gone down hill....they were never great at manufacturing products though....when the z-680s first came out I went through 5 SETS within 2 years...something was always wrong. Eventually though, I got a set that lasted nearly 9 YEARS. But their customer support is always outstannding at replacing your product on the fly...but like you said the problem is much deeper than that and after a while you're fed up with constantly having to ship things out, make sure your home when the replacement gets there, etc.

More people need to post here about their loss of faith in Logitech speakers...maybe something would change.

Update:

So the situation went downhill from the last time I posted; I contact customer support, and they say they cannot give me a free replacement because they traced my history and found out that a service rep incorrectly gave me a free replacement of my original unit, after the warranty was over. So basically, original unit--> used it past warranty-->broke-->service rep gave me a free replacement when they shouldn't have-->replacement broke, service rep gave me a free replacement-->this replacement broke again, service rep gave me another-->and now, they are saying they can't give me a free replacement because the original replacement shouldnt have happened. I don't even want to explain how enraged I was, but you get the point, and teh argument for why this is unfair.

So what did I do? I just opened a new case, and boom, a new replacement came in. Logitech, get a more integrated customer support team, because your lack of consistency pissed me off originally when you couldnt get me a replacement, but now has paid off as I just went to another service rep and opened a new case.

But yeah, also FYI, the replacement I just got, right out of the box, the right satelitte speaker didnt work and I couldnt believe it was happening again....But then I played it for 5 minutes, and the right speaker "warmed up", and now works. Sketch.

Re: I am seriously doubting the Logitech Z623--Beware

Hey! I'm having the same problem, the power button came loose after 1 month, returned to the store where I bought. After 3 weeks of waiting, the store called me and asked me that my speaker's ready for pick up, found out that they just fixed the wire that came loose(may be they just put adhesive/glue to fixed it) and not the power button, when I turned on the speaker, same power button problem and another problem, an annoying sound from the right speaker, even though no input form a device ex., pc, mp3 player, etc. still there is a sound.

I'm very disappointed since in my status, buying an expensive Speaker(8,400 Philippine currency) is not so practical. the sadest thing is I used the credit card of my Aunt and pay for 6 months installment, I already paid 5 months and 1 month to go and I'm done but the speaker I purchased is nearly retired.

is there a logitech service center here in the Philippines?

Thank You

I'm thingking of opening the speaker and replace the power button on my own because even though still covered w/ warranty, I dont want to wait for another 3 weeks for nothing.

Anybody of you tried to replace the power button?

You said you opened a new case and got a replacement, did  you have to send in your unit first? I've had 2 faulty Z906's and they wanted it back first each time, in the process of getting it replaced again, here's hoping they actually send the new one first, PITA setting cables up each time.

Logitech's policy is by far the worst, especially when you have bought the top of the line product they sell, loyalty gets you know where i guess.
