My z5500 has static on the 6-channel direct mode when the coax cable is plugged in. It's weird because when the input mode is coax mode instead of 6-channel direct, there is no static. After unplugging the coax cable from the control pod there is no more static on the 6 channel direct.... Anybody else have this problem? or have possible solutions?
Thanks

HI shin,
It could be that the connector on the cable is bad, the shielded conductor may be too long or the device you are connecting via coax is not grounded sufficiently.

Hi shin,
What are you connecting to via RCA coaxial? Where is that device connected for AC power?

Mike,
I have a motorola DCH3200 HD cable box from comcast and I'm using my lcd monitor for a tv right now... basically there is a digital audio coax on the back of the cable box and im using that to connect directly behind my control pod of my z5500... Then I am using my component cables from the cable box to connect to my monitor... the cable box has its own ac adapter that connects to a power strip. Aside from the static on the 6 channel direct when the coax is plugged into the control pod.... there are no other problems
p.s.
Would using a optical cable instead of coax fix this problem? just want to make sure before I waste more money on another cable.

Hi shin,
I was talking to the Director of PQA about this last night. We were speculating that it might be a Ground Loop. Coax is still electrical, so if you used an optical cable, that should eliminate the issue.
