No Dolby Digital 5500

Hi,

I have had my z5500s for a long while now and have had no problems.  However, i have just noticed that i am no longer getting Dolby Digital sound from the speakers.  I have connected an optical cable from my DVD player to the Control unit, and the only options are Stereo and PRO Logic (normally DD Digital is the only option).

I changed the optical cable, and 'blew' out any dust that may be lurking in the connectors but no luck.  The DVD is Dolby Digital enabled.

Any Ideas or suggestions?

Many thanks

Rudy

Re: No Dolby Digital 5500

Check the DVD Player menu (not just the DVD menu). The menu for the DVD player should also have a setting for outputting the DD steam as opposed to just Stereo Analog.

Re: No Dolby Digital 5500

Hi,

I looked at all the settings on the DVD menu and it is outputting DD 5.1.  I have changed the cables but still no DD.

Thanks

It is set to spdif?

If it's still not working you should download AC3 filter and use a compatible media player like Media Player Classic Home Cinema edition.

Re: No Dolby Digital 5500

Hi do you have any other audio source than the one home dvd player . I would try even a borrowed player to test and make sure its not your dvd player first useing the optical cable.

Re: No Dolby Digital 5500

Hi, I transfered the output to my Sky box which has DD, and went to a movie which also had DD, not still the non DD options on the control unit.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Rudy
