Z-5300 remote control not working in Windows 7

Hello

I know the Z-5300 is a discontinued product, but I was curious if anyone had any ideas for getting the remote control to work in Windows 7.  I installed the original Realtek drivers and then updated the drivers when prompted to by the system.  The speakers work great, but the remote control is not controlling the speakers.  All the lights are on on the remote.  I'm not sure if I am missing some setting or if its not compatible or what.  But I figured I would throw it out there in case anyone had an idea about it.  Thanks.

Re: Z-5300 remote control not working in Windows 7

Hi,

The Z-5300 is an analog speaker system. It does not have any interaction with the Operating system. If the wired control pod works with an iPod for example, then there can be no operating system needed to operate it.

Thanks for your response.  I'm not sure why its no longer controlling the speakers then, all I did was upgrade the OS.

Hi,

I would suggest testing the speakers and controller by connecting to an MP3 player. Upgrading your OS requires you to upgrade your sound card drivers which the speakers are connected to.

Re: Z-5300 remote control not working in Windows 7

[ Edited ]

I tried plugging them into a second pc we have running XP and the remote control works fine.  Its only on the Windows 7 pc its not working correctly.  I had already upgraded the Realtek driver to the latest one on their website.

Edited to clarify:  Both pcs are the exact same hardware, exact same build, bought at the same time. One was the guinea pig to upgrade to Windows 7 first.  So everything is the same on the 2 machines, except the OS and drivers updated for the new OS.
