Z-5500 Control Pod LCDisplay Fading/Faded

Hello,

I have noticed over the past few months that the LCD on the control pod of my Z-5500 5.1 speaker system is fading. The problem seems to be somewhat intermittent. However, it is getting worse and the the characters towards the edges of the display are now completely disappearing. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a solution to it?

Re: Z-5500 Control Pod LCDisplay Fading/Faded

Actually, this was a complaint of mine from the day I got mine (but maybe my complaint is a bit different then yours.)  My complaint was the "COLOR" of the LCD backlit.  Online they made it look like it was a nice deep indigo blue, but in reality it's a pale light blue that almost looks white-very NON TO HI TECH looking.  They really need to get their act together and get these speakers updated and fix the backlight issue to where it's suppose to look like.  These are minor things that can be corrected but all they do is continue to pump out these sytems as if they don't need 'adjusting'.  I threw mine out and I'm waiting for and upgraded model, I just don't like them, especially now that I have more hardware, I don't have enough ports to connect my audio devices since they only have two digital ports (one coaxial and one fiber optical.)

So Logitech, how much longer do we have to wait?  It's been years!  Get with it!  You know there is a market for this, what exactly are you waiting for?  In invitation greeting card from Hallmark?

The accepted solution is all well and good, but what about those whose warranties are up and who don't have any RMA option? What then?

Re: Z-5500 Control Pod LCDisplay Fading/Faded

Hey I was interested in that Replacement you are talking about. It seems that your uploaded image is not showing. Are you sure that it's just the "LEDs" at the sides. I thought it was the entire LCD display itself. My LCD itself flickers in such a way that the black writing itself fades along with the blue backlight in a gradient across the display..

What exactly was your problem? If you can actually include a link to your picture online or somewhere. It would be helpful in the future in case my (and anybody else's) LCD actually goes. I already had overheating problems with my control pod and I had to fix that myself. So Iwould really appreciate the input.

Re: Z-5500 Control Pod LCDisplay Fading/Faded

Hi K3

I guess what he means is that the original LEDs from his control pod died and he inserted new ones on the sides to light the pod again, I guess the problem of LED lighting is solved/fixed but the original cause of the LED dying was not solved.I have read somewhere in these forums that the problems of these pods is IC not the actual LEDs themselves.
