Z-5500 digital optical input

I have a new Samsung BluRay BDP1500 and the Z-5500 system.

I used the optical out on the Samsung into the control unit on the Z-5500

Samsung BluRay audio output is set to PCM

The LCD display reads Dolby PLII movie

I cant get Dolby Digital

Am I doing something wrong or do I have a faulty Z-5500 controller?

Re: Z-5500 digital optical input

I have found that I needed to change PCM to recompressed on the Samsung BluRay.

However, I cant figure out why the new Dark Knight wont play in Dolby Digital

Re: Z-5500 digital optical input

Have you tried cycling though modes? I'm sure there's some way to disable Pro Logic II.

Re: Z-5500 digital optical input

Hi Ber,

PCM will only give you PL II.

Set the output to raw or not decoded on the player.

Z-5500 will NOT decode HD 5.1.

Re: Z-5500 digital optical input

As to decoding HD5.1 If I use an AuzenTech X-FI Hometheater HD HDMI 1.3 Sound Card with my Z-5500, will I be able to listen to DTS-HD Dolby TRUE-HD from my Bluray drive on my computer?

Re: Z-5500 digital optical input

Hi,

If you then fed the decoded HD audio signal to the Z-5500 via the 6 channel direct analog connectors, you would have the HD audio in 5.1 surround.
