Re: Z-5500 outdoor?

Hi, this system will not sound "good" outdoors. It could possibly be heard, but the bass would be gone. And no, boost 11 is not safe, and not covered by the warranty if the speakers blow.

ok, so its unsafe to b playin in boost mode, wat if i played at 80-90%  normal volume. with extra boxing around the sub for ampplification? would this sound any better out side?
also is it possible to just connect any other speaker to the fronts instead of the logitech ones, and would it b better quality?
cheers

Re: Z-5500 outdoor?

Hi, you could try connecting other speakers to the fronts, but only if theyre also 8 ohms. I wouldnt expect there to be a difference though, as the crossover on the system is pretty high, around 150 hz. The box around the sub could help, but it still wouldnt be enough in my opinion, just cause of all the open space. You could play the speakers at 80-90%, but be aware that if the speakers do blow, due to peaks, then it is not covered by the warranty.

Hi,

The issue will be that you expect the sound outdoors to be what you hear indoors. This will NOT be the case. You are equating power with sound quality. The system will sound small, most of the bass will not be there and you will keep turning up the volume untill the speakers or amplifier blows.

Use some common sense and rent a couple of outdoor PA speakers.
