Hello!
I've looked up and down the forum and there seems to be some gathering issues with the z-5500 but none quite like mine.
Earlier today I tried using the COAX input on the control pod, having never used it before, and it didn't work and no matter what I did with my computer I couldn't make it work. I'd had no problems up until this point with the optical or direct inputs so I saw no reason to believe the problem was the pod.
It has had one moment in the past month when the screen went garbled but that passed.. tonight however despite being in standby the system seemd to weirdly come on and made lots of popping noises through the speakers, and then it made one that wasn't and the control pod went off, lights and all, and smelled slightly of burning. Unsurprisingly only the backlight comes on if you turn it on and the power button doesn;t turn it off again. It's just fried.
I know they're a relatively old system now but I love my z-5500 system and wondered if there's any way I could purchase a replacement pod or have this one refurbished at all?
The bulk of the system (sub and speakers) are all still immaculate and it would feel wasteful (and probably out of my budget) to look at a whole new system just because of the pod...
