Sound output suddenly stopped after a 2 month regular usage (max volume 25%) of the Z506 system. At the time I was playing starcraft 2. The moment after the sound stopped playing the power LED on the right front speaker start blinking once every 2 seconds (orso)... The LED is blinking like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmcPIDG5IYM.

Tried

- replugging

- inserting the power connector in another socket

- reinstalling motherboard drivers for audio (although that cannot be the issue since all parts of the sound system are still detected)

- removing all power sources from the pc/sound system

Btw why not print such system feedback in an online manual. Obviously it has a meaning, not every user of logitech products is stupid...

Today I noticed that the problems only occur after some sound has been passed from the pc to the system. I accidently switched on the system (automatism) and the LED was on continously. After windows played it initial startup sound (or halfway) the LED started blinking again.

Now I sometimes (after power down -> up) have sounds for a few seconds, after which the blinking starts again. Also with each blink I hear a light tick coming from the subwoofer, that however is probably some interference caused by the irregular powering.

Looks like you have  done some tests with power and sound sources.

The pulsing maybe an indication the unit has failed. The Z506  doesn't have any digital controls so I doubt there is any type of reset sequence for the Z506.

You may want to contact the Logitech Support Group for your location and see what they suggest.

Thank you for the quick response, I feared mech failure, I will call them immedialty tomorrow. Luckely only had the system for 2 months
