Re: Z5500 Bass quiet compared to Youtube videos

Increasing the bass gives a cool effect and charges up the surroundings and then with logitech we can be sure about the quality and that exactly what you have got.

Hi well DFX will give you more bass and high tones in your speakers It works really well give it a try . I know my z-5500 do not sound near as good without it. I actually keep the bass setting in DFX to 1 as I feel its to much but if you want booming bass it will do it.

@catid

Your statement is a bit conflicting, you say the speakers are digital w/c is true but you recommend a highend sound card to digital out usage, you do understand that digital out does NOT reply on the quality of the soundcard since the Z-5500's pod does ALL of the decoding, a 10year old onboard SC with digital out vs a $500 SC with digital out will sound exactly the same.

Creative drivers i know give you the option to use your sound card decoder or a external one.

Actually you are wrong. While you may know about your particular card is does not make you an expert. Because i know for fact that my Razer Barracuda AC-1 card will input and output optical signals and it WILL decode them and pass them through it's own equalizer and DTS enhancement. Maybe yours does not, but I am telling you that mine does and it is nice. Plus, I doubt that a 10 year old onboard sound card would have an optical port.

Duh! When comparing differences between a sound cards output quality all that equalizer garbage and "DTS-Distrotions" are always disabled, for analog connection there is nothing you can do but be at the mercy of the DAC before it gets sent to the system hence you will hear a great difference of sound quality in analog, but in digital the audio can be bit-streamed to the decoder/reciever and you will GET the very same sound quality from ALL digital output soundcards provided the speaker/reciever remains constant & ofcourse all the EQ preset and distortion effects disabled.
