Z5500 no 5.1 output

IM having trouble getting 5.1 output on the z5500. I have a Creative Xtreme music soundcard and whenever i play a dts or dolby surround movie the logitech control panel always says the input stream is PCM 2/0.

Hi,

I'm going to guess you have other choices than PCM. Try chosing one that says RAW. The issue is obviously with your sound card settings, what did Creative say when you contacted them about their sound card?

Thank you for your post.

go to your entertainment mode and the far right blue icons will say dolby digital n dts! there is a setting in there giving you the option to use an external decoder, use that for dts n dolby digital!make sure in your dvd playing software that your speaker setting is set to SPDIF

Re: Z5500 no 5.1 output

Thanks for your response, I have already tried that and no help. Even worse is when the dts intro plays (the one with the piano) the sound screeches when the loud part plays, and the sound still is in 2 channel mode when all the settings are set to 5.1. I know its not my logitech z5500 speakers becuase i tested them by temporarily hooking up my ps3 and puttting the same movie in there (war of the worlds) as soon as i did the logitech display panel was showing a 5.1 dts input signal.  Ive heard the the creative x-fi cards only output 5.1 in analog mode is this true? Either way ive been a creative sound card fan for over 10 years and becuase of this im calling it quits, i have ordered an ht omega striker sound card.

Well i got rid of my creative sound card and got myself an ht omega striker. Everything works perfect now, sound is more crisp and the logitech control panel say DTS when i listen to music or movies now. One question though is it not possible to get 5.1 surround in 96Khz mode? becuase when i switch it to that it automaticaly goes to 2 channel mode and wont let me switch to 5.1
