Hi, I received my replacement just a few days ago and I am still experiencing hissing, static and muffled sounds whenver I play any CD.
The hiss occurs even when not playing any music and it gets louder as I turn the volume up.
In order to troubleshoot, I had them disconnected from the motherboard built in sound to a brand new Auzen X-Fi Prelude. Thinking that the new card could have been the culprit, I went to exchange it for another one of the same brand. However the same problems are still there.
Anyone has any other ideas to help me out? Perhaps ANOTHER replacement?
Thanks all.
My specs: Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard, WinXP, Auzen XFi Prelude with latest drivers connected via SPDIF.
Z5500 PID R848

I have this hissing static sound with my brand new Z-5500.
How do you reset the control pod?

Tried resetting the control pod and I still experience hissing and humming sound from all my speakers.
I think I will have to RMA my control pod.

Hi duck,
Is the "hissing " there with the speakers COMPLETELY disconnected from any audio source? What is the volume setting on ALL the speakers?

Hi Mike_M,
The hissing and humming noise come from the speakers COMPLETELY disconnected from any audio source. On top of that, I isolate the speakers from any source of electrical interference. The noise get worst as I switch from 6 Ch to Stereo/Stereo X2/PLII Music or Movie.
The noise sound the same no matter if I turn the volume to 0 or to the max.

Hi charlpotter,
I think i found a solution to the probelm. after searching the internet for solution nothing came up. so i opened up my control unit decided to take a look.
I found some of my capacitor were getting really hot, so i replaced some of them, but even with the new one they were still over heating. then i notice that one of the resister was getting red (i had to turn off the light to see it). looks like it was bruned. I'm in the middle of search the coed for that part. from what i see if i can repalce that resister the whole thing could work again. If is possible can someone help me take a picture of their boar.
thanks.
