Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Hi. I've recently purchased the Logitech Z5500 5.1 speaker system. I am in the habit of turning off all my electronic equipment while it's not in use, ever since a power spike destroyed a friends computer. Every time I turn the power to the Z550's off at the mains, all my settings seem to get reset. Main volume, Center, Surround, and Sub all go back down to zero. I'm not sure if this is by design, or if there is a problem with the system.

Hi, sometimes mine is like that sometimes its not. I personally don't mind because the speakers are working anyway.

No, really... can someone help me here? I really need to know if this is how the unit is meant to behave, or if I have a dud speaker system so that I can arrange to have it replaced. I don't want to get borked trying to exchange the unit if the need arises just because I've gone past some 'used by date' - I've read in other Logitech forums where your message gets 'lost', and when someone finally answers, it's too late to do anything about it.

Re: Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Hi, then my answer is no. My older set of Z-5500's did not reset once during the whole year of using it. If you are bothered by this, then you may exchange your set.

Re: Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Thanks Platboy for your reply. It looks like my worst fears have been realised. I'd like to verify for sure that this resetting problem is actually due to a fault with the Logitech Z-5500 before I have to jump through hoops trying to get the system replaced. The store I bought the unit from does not assume any responsibility for it's sales - I have to deal now with Logitech directly. And from what I've been reading in the Forums here, I gather that this can be a painful experience.

Re: Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Hi, exchanging with the store may be better because i don't think that logitech will see this as a defect because the system itself is working properly and is producing sound. I would PM one of the support specialists (Mona) to see if RMA can be done on this issue.

Re: Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Yah, I guess that's my main concern. I don't know if my problem is actually a defect with the system, or if it is supposed to reset all the settings once I turn the power off. With everything that the Z-5500's can do, I strongly doubt that the 'control center' has no way of storing the settings so that it can fire up where it left off once I turn the power back on. From what you have said before, it sounds like it shouldn't lose the settings. I'd just like to have it confirmed by from someone at Logitech telling me that losing all the previous settings on power-down is normal behaviour, or that it shouldn't reset (meaning that there's a problem with my system). I've scoured the Net to see if there's something I may have missed, read the 'manual' from front to back and back again, searched reviews/forums etc, and written to Logitech Tech Support, but I'm still none the wiser regarding this problem.

If somone could just tell me "yes, there's a problem with your system", I could then proceed to the next step of tyring to get my system replaced.

Re: Z5500 settings resetting on power-down.

Well... I've written directly to Logitech Customer Support TWICE no, and nothing. No reply, not even an acknowledgement that they have received my mail. Pretty poor from such a large company. So I still don't know if my unit is faulty or not. It's no use trying to take it back to the store I bought it from, as they have a policy whereby defects with any purchase must be taken up directly to the manufacturer. Which is what I have done. But they won't seem to reply... If anyone else has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.
