Z5500 sound dropout

I have Z5500 speakers attached to XFI Fatality sound card via optical cable on  Windows 7

On the volume control panel the readout changes to No Digital Data all by itself, no interaction by me no software running.

On a fresh boot up it can sometimes read No Digital Data

If i try to run Dirt 3 the panel readout changes back and forth, which ever readout it settles on i can still hear the game.

If the readout changes then the sound gets interupted.

Short of doing a complete strip down, rebuild and reinstall i have tried everything.

I'm already bald and cant afford to loose more hair, can someone help

Hi there, if you go into the creative control console or what ever its called, look for a option called DDL aka Dolby digital Live or DTS interactive/connect, if you enable that it'll sort out that no digital data option.

QUOTE 1: 'Short of doing a complete strip down, rebuild and reinstall i have tried everything.'

QUOTE 2:'the readout changes to No Digital Data all by itself'

Emphasis added by me

Think of something i would not of thought of myself, or relevant to quote 2.

PLEASE

Im trying to help you here, you did not mention you have tried using Dolby Digital Live or DTS Interactive. You haven't because it would not change to no Digital Data, I have the exact same speaker system, with DDL/DTS Interactive it never changes to no Digital Data, if it still changes you have a faulty system.

Open your eyes read the words carefully, take a deep breath and think about it.

Here it is again incase you missed it  all the other times it was posted on this page.

I came here because i thought this was the place of last resort, the place people come to when they have tried everything else to no avail, and would get help from people who have, been there - done that - got the t-shirt.

And know of some obscure reason for it, but no, wot do i ever.... ever... ever get. People who like to state the obvious.

Am i in a bad mood yep i am now, every time i post this somewhere,

Re: Z5500 sound dropout

So how many people have listened to your advice and spent money needlessly, are you going refund them. NO

Do you work for Logitech, probably.

Why has no one from Logitech looked at this post and said something ? Anything, even to tell me to shut up

Probably cos they want me to spend money or they know about as much as you do.

This aint my problem but one others may come across (and save them money and heartache) that you obviously know nothing of, so google it.

It's called Component Creep, it lead me to my solution. It was still happening but forced me to try something else.

And not a single penny spent cos of bad advice
