connecting more than one speaker to one terminal on the 5500

is it safe to connect like two speakers to the center channel input on the subwoofer and so forth?

Well that requires double the amplifier work. Is it safe? Depends how loud you turn it up.

i dont see why it would overwork the amp its just sending the signal two different ways

Middle school physics equations...

Wattage = Current x Resistance.

Hooking up an identical speaker (or one with the same resistance) decreases the load by half. So if the original resistance was 8 ohms, its now 4 ohms.

To generate the same wattage, you need double the current.

Simple physics.

As far as too loud, again, its an issue of physics. I have no idea what the numerical variables are in your situation, but the mathematical relationship is obvious.
