How can I use the x530 speaker system with an '06 vintage Mac Mini? Will I really not be able to hear the rear speakers? Is there a work-around?? Thanks....

Hello photomandan,
If your Mac Mini has only one 3.5mm speaker jack you will not be able to use your rear speakers. However, you can use an adaptor such as this one. You can then simply plug your green 3.5mm plug and black 3.5mm plug in to the female 3.5mm jacks. Unfortunately you will not receive true surround sound as the X530 speakers rely on your computer to decode the audio. You will instead get four channel stereo. The sounds coming from the front left and right speaker will be the same as the rear left and right speaker.
I hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
