I am trying to connect the z5450 to an audigy 2 zs platinum for in digital mode.  The audigy notes an 1/8 miniplug to a DIN connector, but the Z5450 has no such input.  I have tried using the optical input. but the audigy seem to only provide stereo rather than a 5.1/6.1 output.  Suggestions.

Most likely your sound card is decoding the digital stream. When this happens the sound becomes stereo. You will need to disable the decoding function on the sound card. If you are using some sort of software dvd player, you will also need to disable the digital decoding in the player.
