Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

[ Edited ]

My pleasure dariocs,

These CapXon capacitors are absolute crap beleive me!

even though they look ok..change them..honestly!!!

Sort of verifies the story that was going round a few years back about

the stolen electrolyte formula (which was an early version) but enabled caps to be much smaller for

the given capacitance. A lot of motherboard manufacturers used them because they were so

much smaller..however, a year or so down the line...uber capacitor failures!!

I've re-capped enough motherboards etc..to know this.

Manufacturers are now stating in their blurb things like "only Japanese/solid etc etc capacitors used"

wonder why?? heeeeheeee.

Night...

Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

Understood. The only thing that kept me from thinking in those capacitors was that the power board output was pretty stable, so I didn't think that the capacitors could be in bad shape... Anyway, I will try.

Thanks again!

Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

Hello Dariocs,

the produced of the RF Module is a Chineese Company call Squeak 1.5 and was producing 2 modules (TX and RX WH4906 and WH4908) used for HiFi Audio RF transmission (2,4 GHz) and receiver.  These modules are quite complex they contain:

  • XInC wireless processor — Hardware multithreaded; 16-bit RISC, programmable.
  • ML2724 RF Transceiver — 1536 kbpsFSK digital radio; frequency hopping.
  • Squeak Firmware — Versatile RF protocol; adaptive audio CODEC
  • I have not found a re-seller in EU so I am asking to a collegue in China to search it. Thinks are progressing but no so fast.

In case of good news I'll let you know.

    Bye

I would very much like to have the speakers sorted! Both of them have now failed and I do not know one end of a soldering iron from another! (actually, I do know that the business end is hot, but you know what I mean!).

If anyone could like to get their wireless spaker fixed by the same person who fixed mine then please PM me on here, if that's ok by the mods.  I'm in UK, as long as postage is covered both ways we can fix it for a small labour fee.  This issue infuriated me like it has so many others.

It saves having to bin the whole system.

I sure would please, my email address is : (personal content edited)

    Thankyou :smileyhappy:

My wireless rear speaker has been broken for several months.  Replacing this capacitor has fixed it.  Thank you so much to  hamishi and everyone else who reported success.

Hi all, I've read the solution for red flashing led on rear speaker. I've the same problem, but in my case, the damaged capacitor is the C15 on the bottom of the pcb. I would to replace it, do you know the specifications of voltage and capacitance? Is an SMD 0603 package. Thanks a lot. Nikkio.

    Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

    Hi all,

I'm sorry but I've made an error...

The problem with the speaker was the capacitors told by hamishi and not the C15.

I've polished the C15 from coating and it wasn't burned.

Then, I've replaced the two 100uF 10V caps with 100uF 16V (the only I have) and... It works!

Thanks to all and in particular to hamishi!

    Best regards,

    Nikkio.

    Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

    Thanks hamishi!!

I too had the same issue with the blinking red light.  Ended up buying a whole other used set of the z-5450 just to get a spare rear speaker to replace my defective one!!  Then I came back to this forum and found that other people had fixed the problem by replacing the capacitors.  Since I already had another working one, i figured what the heck, the defective one can only get better... took it apart, replaced the indicated capacitors with 16v 100uf ones, and bang, it works again!!  Fantastic, now I have two sets that is working, i can give one set to my brother :smileyhappy:

I have soldered before, but have never removed a component before, so it took me some time to remove the existing capacitors.  I ended up just pulling on the capacitor while heating up the solder on the other side, and eventually the capacitor came loose.  Then I inserted the replacement capacitors while heating up the solder again on the other side, and the leads from the capacitor eventually came through and soldered.

    Re: z-5450 rear speaker troubleshooting

    Hey Lads,

I have the red flashing light problem. I dont know if this is the problem tho.

I just got the speakersystem from my brother too day - he have had it laying around for about a month. But when he out it a side it worked perfectly - so i got it home and tried connecting the system but BOTH the rear speakers are non-working...but with the red flash light problem thingy....Do you guys think it that problem or something els? Sounds to wierd that both speakers simultaneously should do the red flash problem dosnt it?

The only thing ive really tried is the reset thing on the buttom of the control and on the back of the two wireless speakers.....any ideas?

    Hello Wickstar,

from your description in my opinion it is a Radio Frequency problem. You have 2 solutions. Or you give to your brother the speaker systems or you send me the 2 speakers for HW modification. Let me know if you need more information.

    Bye
