I would like to thank all the people here providing their input - swapping the capacitors (with the help of my Uncle), we managed to revive my "blinking dead" speaker!

And yes, I didn't know why, but my 35W soldering iron just wouldn't melt the solder, but my Uncle's 40W seemed to work just fine... Replaced the three capacitors with 100uF 16V ones, even though all three looked "OK".

My Left Rear has been broken since 2006!!!!

I called Logitech back in 2006 and they were going to give me a 5500. I knew if I could hold onto these Speakers I would Fix them Eventually.

Found these in the Garage. I still use my 4550 Daily as my main Sound System in my house. I am putting in the order for my Caps to be replaced. Heh, looks just like Dell's issues with their Motherboards, only difference is I have to actually replace a Capacitor.

 I too have the frustration of having my rear right speaker not working. I was wondering if I could take you up on your offer of a repair as I don't think i am skilled enough to repair it myself.

Great thread and its offered much insight to the predicament I'm facing with the rear right speaker of my system.  So in another thread I learned that some people had fixed this issue just by heating up the power supply board so I tried that and it worked temporarily, however every time I cut power to the speaker it goes back to powering up flashing red.  So after plenty of experimenting its definitely those two small 100/10 caps that are the root of the problem.  Tried re-soldering their connections beneath the board and it'd work (when they're still hot from the attempt) but again only until the next time I'd power cycle the speaker.

My question is why/how could they create this situation?  Why do these caps react to the heat in this way?  Its just a curiosity really and I know I'll have to replace them but still don't understand how the application of heat lets them work and then continue working indefinitely until the power is cut.

Great! Really great! My rear right speaker has come back to life!

One more time, I post a message to register the list of people who made a "blind" replacement of those two 100uF/10V capacitors (I used 100uF/20V capacitors instead)... And bingo, fixed!

Thank you so much hamishi, I wouldn't have tried to replace thoses capacitors without this thread, as they didn't look damaged at all! Regards,

Hi Everyone.

Thanks to all who have provided this forum - I have been able to remove the circuit board in order to replace the offending capacitors. However I have now noticed that a wire has broken from somewhere on the board. It looks like it is a part that receives the signal so I guess it is an arieal. Can anyone provide me with a picture showing where it should go ?

I recently replaced my broken left wireless spaker (not the flashing light problem. i knocked it down and now it was making odd noises ^^) with a used one. now iam very confused, because it seems that the wireless speaker i bought can't even connect to the control unit. the red light on the speaker does not flash. i already tried to reset the control unit, but didn't work. does someone know if it even is possible to replace a wireless speaker with a other used one?

i was able to fix the blinking light issue a couple of months ago, but im still having connection issues with my rear speakers. When both are plugged in one is in standby and the other one turns blue, but when i unplug the blue one the red one turns blue so it means both speakers are working i just dont know why they won't both turn on but only one.
