z5500 Subwoofer/Amp Buzzing problem

I've had these speakers for about 7 months now and have been very pleased.  I play them at maximum volume (Not Boost +11, that doesn't sound as good) for about an hour a day.  However, starting late last night, my sub and amp have stopped working properly.  When I turn the system on, there is a ton of white noise in the sub that wasn't present before.  On top of that, if I turn the volume up past about 10%, a VERY LOUD static hiss/buzzing can be heard.  I am talking loud, not the normal speaker hiss/buzz which I don't have a problem with...this sounds as if it is max volume.  It does this constantly so there is no way to use them in this state.  There is still sound coming from the speakers but it is very low in volume.  The sub is not playing anything from the input to it, but it is "working" in that it emits a constant frequency.

I have tried changing the settings around and tweaking individual levels but it doesn't affect the problem at all.  It seems to me that the amp is having a problem of sorts.

My question is: What has happened to my speaker system?  Is there anything I can do to fix the issue?

Thanks,

Re: z5500 Subwoofer/Amp Buzzing problem

Hi,

Sounds to me like the speaker blew. That's what happens when you play them too long, too loud.
