On trying to connect to the Free Radio Birmingham station through the internet radio option, a 401 Authentication Required message appears.
All other stations I've tried are fine and don't display the message. I've tried re-installing the server and updating the radio with the latest firmware but the message persisted.
I've tried to do some more troubleshooting and found that the message only appears when trying to connect through squeezebox.com, when connected to my local server no message appears and it plays fine. It also plays through a browser without any problem.
Does anyone know if this means the issue is between squeezebox.com and the radio station and what (if anything) can be done about it? We don't have the PC (and therefore the local server) on much so generally would be using squeezebox.com.
It's my wife's favourite so must be fixed! :-)

What is the format of the station (mp3, wma, aac) and which player are you using?

Thanks for replying squeezeit.
The player is a squeezebox radio. How would I be able to find out the format of the station?

While station is playing, from the Radio's Now Playing screen, press "+" button (or press the big knob), select More Info, stream url/type/kbps should be presented.

Here is the URL I found on LMS, looks like mp3 so that's not the issue. But maybe you are suffering from the GeoIP restriction on playback??

I'm in UK and it's a UK station so wouldn't expect any kind of geographical restriction?

Well, it's more complicated than that. ![]()
I don't proclaim to know where in the EU MySB.com server is actually located but......
You might be in the UK but if MySB.com is located in France then that station sees MySB.com as "outside of the UK".
Which might explain why it plays when you use your local LMS server, now the station sees your LMS server as "within the UK". Could also be a glitch on MySB.com, they just had such a geographic glitch related to BBC station streaming.
Maybe check your selected location on MySB.com settings?

Hehe, isn't it always?! ![]()
My account settings country is set to United Kingdom but I guess there isn't a way to be absolutely sure where the SB server is?
Just checked the URL on the player and it seems to be different to the one you posted?
