Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

Listening to Slacker last night on my Squeezebox Radio (which was just updated to the latest 7.7.2 r9663 firmware) and experienced a problem I haven't seen before.  Around 11:15pm PDT (on 3/28/12) it stopped playing at the end of a song (which I *have* seen before recently when there were problems with MySqueezeBox.com) but this time I got a new error message and symptom.  On the display it read "Unable to retrieve next track.  Press PLAY to try again. (500 Please retry)".  When I hit PLAY it just restarted the same song.  If I hit Skip (>>) I got the same error message.  I forget how I got Slacker going again--I probably changed stations away and then back again.

Then this morning (3/29/12 7:40am PDT) it happened again on Slacker.  I've now been listening to Pandora since that time (a little over 1.5 hours), and no further interruption.

I hope this isn't going to be a recurring problem, as I find I usually prefer Slacker's music choice over Pandora's these days.

Re: Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

Well, Pandora just stopped playing at the end of a song, less than a half hour after that last post.  There was no error message.  I hit PLAY (on the Radio) and it just beeped.  I hit SKIP (>>) and it successfully went to the next song.

I had both my Boom and my Radio playing together this morning when this happened.  They both went silent at the end of the song (around 9:50am), and I happened to be in the room with the Radio when I tried the above steps.  They're both playing again now.

Did you guys try to make that recent change to MySqueezebox.com again?

10:48am, Pandora has stopped at end of a song again. This time I went to my Squeezebox Boom to address the problem. No error message was on the display, just song title information on display. Hit Play, screen then said “Now Playing.” Hit Play again, it gave me the name of the stalled song. Hit “Play” again, it started up the next song, and I could hear the Radio in the next room sync to the same song.

Firmware on my Boom is 57.

7:58pm, Slacker suddenly stopped playing a song. On Boom, display briefly showed the “Unable to retrieve next track. Press PLAY to try again...” error, and now just says “Now Playing” (with silence). Hit PLAY and saw the error message in full. Hit PLAY again and it started replaying the same song that just stopped. Hit SKIP and got same error. Hit SKIP two more times and it started playing the same song again.

Re: Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

P.S. The fact that the very same error message, never before seen until the last day or two, appeared on my oldish firmware Boom as well as my brand-new firmware Radio, suggests that the problem is in MySqueezeBox.com (or Slacker, but less likely since I'm having Pandora issues too).

My guess is that someone is fiddling with MySqueezeBox.com again and it has brought some of the same recent problems back, although with a new error message on both devices.

Re: Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

Hello smithc,

There have been problems with a few of the apps and there is a complete thread about Pandora / Slacker giving problems. It is quite possible that they might have worked on the site. It is also quite possible that Pandora / Slacker might have done some modifications or maintenace to their sites/apps.

Just to confirm that it is not your player playing "I feel glitchy", Go to Mysqueezebox.com, remove the account first, then the app and then add it back again. Once you do that, Turn off both your Players(Radio and Boom) and turn them back on.

Take Care

I also have the radio.

Last night I received the slacker 500 error a couple times on my Radio.   This mornng I'm having the same problem.  I received the error and after restarting the slacker station and  just  playing one song I received the error again.   I hope this gets fixed soon.  I just tried my Classic and Boom and the same thing is happening.   I gave up for now.

Re: Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll probably give it a try later when I've got some time.  However, from my experience, I'd be willing to bet more money on the possibility that Logitech changed something rather than Pandora & Slacker (two separate companies) making some change at the very same time that affected the Logitech product.

Re: Another new problem since 7.7.2 r9663 update (Radio)

Have now seen a very similar problem and error message with Pandora this morning.  Here's my log:

Have been listening to Pandora since around 6:25am PDT. Just now (7:22am) right after a commercial, I got silence. Looked up at the Boom display and see “PANDORA_500 SSL read timeout:”. Now, 7:24, the Boom's screen has gone completely black for a while, and now it's back to saying “mysqueezebox.com, 1 of 13, Now Playing” and silence. Went into other room and checked Radio display and it's saying “PANDORA_500 SSL read timeout:”.

7:26am, changed to Slacker on Boom, and Radio synced up.

7:44am, tried hitting Skip on remote to avoid a song, and it restarted the same song! Tried this a couple of times with the same results!

Went to web controller, and got the following:

Switched to Pandora (for now).
