I was wondering if 4 D cell batteries would be fine for the squeezebox touch, or would it be outside its specifications?
The a/c adaptor states 5 volts DC 3 amps. Logitech's offshore support wasn't helpful, as all they told me, was that they do not have a battery power supply for the touch product.
I will be using it by a Hot Tub and would like to keep 120v supply as far away as possibly!

I should say that this is a neat idea and looks nice. I did read a while back on the forums that any kind of external modifications to the squeezebox products will void the warranty.
Just see to that this setup is not going to put a big dent on your wallet. The touch is a pricy neat device but if it goes pooch, then you are looking at a paper weight.
I have heard the voice of some very unhappy individuals on the forums and on slimdevices web site that support made them buy another since they accidentally damaged it making modifications
