Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

One test a day. First I adjusted the router settings (port forward as you described). Appeared to be no solution; same problem. Then I shut down the Squeezebox server on my Synology NAS and checked if my radio works with mysqueezebox.com. No problem there but still no solution for my problem. I noticed the following. When the alarm sounds and I turn the big button in order to scroll in the menu on the display from "snooze" to "shutdown alarm" the reaction is different. Normally when scrolling through the menu one click-turn with the big button means one step in the menu. When the alarm sounds I have to give it three or four clicks in order to make one step in the menu. Then, after pushing the big button the entire week alarm shuts down. What's your advise right now?

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

Hello Kiruban,

received a new radio yesterday. The radio was auto-update, set to work with mysqueezebox.com and Squeezebox server. This morning happened the thing that I was afraid for: the same problem again! I'm a little in shock right now. So my problem is in the radios settings, my network or the Squeezebox server. I think it is time to send you some log files so you can analyze what's going on. Do you agree with my idea? Which log files do you want and how can I get them?

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

OK, no reply form America, but the testing over here stills going on. And with success as far as I can see now. It was in the setting of repeating the alarm. I always had this set on off, since I was using a radio station for the alarm. Now when the setting is on, I can shut the alarm down with the power-button, without shutting down the entire alarm schedule. Seems like a bug to me. I try testing this for a few days before I close this threat to "solved".

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

Hello Dyco,

Are the Menu options working smoothly unlike the previous radio that you had? When you do select the Turn off Alarm option, what exactly happens with this new radio?

I am going to say that this is not a bug. The reason I am telling this is because, I have tested this feature time and time again and it works. I am not going to make any final conclusions since technology is cute "it likes to make its own schedules and make us poor consumers follow it". :smileyhappy:

I have been waking to the alarm for the last 4 days that I have set on a Squeezebox Radio and its working.

Please do keep us in the loop and let us know what you find out.

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

Okay. Done several tests. Both with a wired and wireless network connection. There is no difference between them.

The solution found is working really fine and with no exception. I'm very glad with this, next to the really fine functioning of the radio. I shut down the alarm with the power button.

The menu-scrolling when the alarm sounds is the same as before. More specific: turning the big button exactly six clicks gives always one step in the menu, six clicks right = 1 step down, six clicks left = 1 step up.

Did not mean to offend you by telling this was a bug. I can't understand why this is functions for me the way it is. Is there anything you want me to test?

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

Hi. I have exactly same problem with mine Squeezebox. It is solely connected to my router for listening to internet radio. <No connection to PC or NAS. Having wake up every morning from Monday to Friday. When the alarm comes I turn the big knob to switch off alarm and then I pres the big knob. Then I get the picture of the bird showing the Sound Menu and the alarm continues. When I then press a preset the box swhitch to play the station on the preset.

Next problem I have is when I just after the alarm try to switch the box off (not on stand by but totally off) it shows the switch off sign switch off, but few seconds later the box switch on again by it self.

Hope somebody can help

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

@ Dyco,

Can I get you to apply a custom firmware update to your Radio. Go to Settings>Advanced>Software update>Begin update.

From you description, the navigation seems to be glitchy and I do not know why. Please perform the firmware update and also do a Factory Reset on the radio just to be certain.

 @ Bljensen,

Instead of Pressing the Preset button and switching to a radio station, can I get you to turn the knob and select turn off alarm. When  you do this, does it turn off the alarm? If not, what exactly happens.

As far as the Radio not switching off when you do command it, the problem could be with the device itself of a software/firmware glitch.

Can I also get you to Perform a Customer update by going to Settings>Advanced>Software Update>Begin update and see how it goes.

If the Problem Persists Bljensen, I would recommend that you contact your local region support center for further assistance andalso look into possibly getting the unit replaced.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

[ Edited ]

OK. Performed a firmware update, then a reset to factory settings, set the language, making contact to wireless network, making contact to diskstation, then a alarm test.

Same problem again. Tried the big button, unlike what I usually do. Again the six-click menu scrolling. Alarm shuts down fine without shutting down the entire week-schedule.

Two people with the same problem, and my radio replaced for a new with exactly the same problem looks like no incidence...

Shall we leave it to this, ore is there more to find out or test?

Re: Can't shut alarm Squeezebox Radio properly down

Dyco, what is the problem left for you?

I read the whole thread but lost track with the latest postings:

>> It was in the setting of repeating the alarm. I always had this set on off, since I

>> was using a radio station for the alarm. Now when the setting is on, I can shut the

>> alarm down with the power-button, without shutting down the entire alarm schedule

This is intentional. Only a repeated alarm will sound every morning (based on the weekdays you configured).

If you set repeat to 'off' it is a one-time alarm, that will sound on the very next day that has been configured.
