Connection reset by local host - BBC Radio applet on Squeezebox radio

Can anyone offer advice?  I haven't to my knowledge changed anything on my Squeezebox radio, but since the weekend it has developed an issue.

I have installed the BBC Radio applet by Triode on my Squeezebox.  I use this to listen to old Radio 4 FM programmes on iplayer.

I can browse the programmes and select what I want.  The graphics come down, with the scrolling programme info and there is a message "Connecting..."  Then I get "Connection reset by local host - programme name". That's it; show's over.

I use the radio on Wi-fi, often from battery. My music library all plays fine.

I have tried managing the radio from my home PC with Logitech media server.  This works well and I can create a playlist from the BBC iPlayer and it plays all the shows that I have tried to select from the radio perfectly.  (Is this Media server Iplayer app the same app as the one installed on the radio?).

I have tried reinstalling the BBC Radio applet with cold and warm resets.  Oddly, I seem to be in a software update loop where the player asks to update to 7.7.1  9557(?) and then later asks to update to 7.7.2 9663.  When i retired something it would ask for the 7.7.1 update again.  Not sure if this is related.

Could this be something to do with the change to BST?  The time on my PC and radio does appear to be the same.

Re: Connection reset by local host - BBC Radio applet on Squeezebox radio

I think I may have found my answer here: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Squeezebox-Players/BBC-radio-timeout/td-p/805923/page/5:smileylol:

I guess that the app in the media server is different to the applet installed on the radio. My media server was already set to use AAC. However, my radio was set to use WMA.  I followed the advice below and changed to AAC and all is rosey again.  Thanks to BPA2.

"For the applet - My Apps / BBC Radio/ go to bottom of menu (after BBC York and Special Events) to find "Streams" and change to "AAC/MP3""

Re: Connection reset by local host - BBC Radio applet on Squeezebox radio

I think there are 3 issues at work.

1. Mysqueezebox.com has been updated recently - this may the issue about firmware 7.7.2 / 7.7.1 updates.

2. Mysqueezebox.com went down for awhile today - this means that BBC applet would stop playing - I think this was the  cause of your original "connection reset" problem

3. The BBC WMA vs AAC issue was the last problem you solved.

Re: Connection reset by local host - BBC Radio applet on Squeezebox radio

Bravo!  Thank you so much.  I love it when I can solve a techi problem, like this one, so simply.  This exact problem had been annoying me for several days now & I hate when I have to take a minor diploma to solve one of these mysteries.  I still don't know why this happened when it's been working perfectly for years, but who cares - now that you've solved it for me.  I hope something nice happens for you shortly.  I'll pass your kindness on.Nella

MySB.com is now 7.7.2 and your LMS is 7.7.1

Options:

-  don't switch to MySB.com

-  update your LMS to 7.7.2

-  dismiss update on every switch between servers
