Duet: flashing pink twice

Hi,

My Duet stopped working today.  When I power it on (I've power cycled it several times) the front button appears to be double-flashing pink.

I've tried holding down that button to do a factory reset, but it never stopped double-flashing pink, and never goes red.

What's going on?

Cheers,

Andy

Re: Duet: flashing pink twice

Hello CmdrJudas,

Sorry to hear that the duet is behaving as such. When the duet player turns pink/purple, it means that it has reached the end of its life or is about to fail.

Not a lot can be done for the product to be recovered. Have read in the forums that in a few cases, they were able to revive it by doing a Factory Reset.

Try the following : (Receiver test)

a, Unplug the Power from the back of the reciever and let it sit for a few mins.

b, Press and hold onto to button in front of the receiver and plug the power back in while still holding the button on the front.

c, the receiver light should cycle through some colors and if your receiver is connected to the speaker system will make a noise.

If the receiver does not cycle through colors and you do not hear any sound, I am afraid to say that you receiver is pooched. If it does cycle and make noise, do the following :

1, Unplug the receiver and let it sit for a few mins

2, Plug the power back into the receiver

3, Press and hold onto the button on the front until it blinks rapidly red and then let it go.

If you still are not able to get it to go to rapid blinking red, the receiver is gone.

I would contact your local support at this point to see what they can do to aid you further.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Duet: flashing pink twice

FWIW, I've just solved the issue.  I've done a number of things to get to this stage, including many power cycles of the Duet, so can't be sure what actually solved it, but a factory reset of the controller, re-registering on both the network and my squeezebox account, and then power cycling the Duet seemed to do the trick.  Earlier I'd done a password reset on my Squeezebox account, so that may or may not be part of the solution as well.

Re: Duet: flashing pink twice

Hello CmdrJudas,

I am very happy to hear that you were able to get it sorted out by doing a combination of factory resets and re-registering the player. Duet is an awesome device if you can get it working and works well. If it goes down, it will take you along for the ride.

When it comes to Squeezebox Duet Systems, Persistence is the key. Its like opening a combination lock. If at first you fail, try try again until you do succeed.

I am very glad it all worked out for you.

 Keep smiling.
