Interactions between 2 Duets and 1 Squeezebox Radio

Hello!

First-time poster... :smileyhappy:

I have a new Squeezebox Radio (working perfectly thank you) on my wireless network and have two Duet Receivers (SBRs) and one Duet Controller (SBC). I have set up the Duet Controller OK, and by default it detects the Radio and can control it. Not exactly what I want, but good all the same.

I don't currently have a Squeezebox Server running on my network (I have a Buffalo NAS on which I've tried again and again to get the Server on but that's another story).

My question(s)

  1. What's the best way to set up the Duet Receivers in different rooms - or do I need to run the Server somewhere on the network to do this? I guess what I'm asking is - can the Radio act as the 'gateway; through which each of the SBRs can pull content / apps / etc. to wherever they are located?
  2. Er, that's it.

Any suggestions, or am I simply going to have to face up to my Squeezebox Server demons?

Cheers! :smileyfrustrated:

Re: Interactions between 2 Duets and 1 Squeezebox Radio

No local server needed if you just want online content, stations & services.

No, the Radio cannot be a "gateway" to anything.  All players and Controllers must be connect to a server, somewhere, some how.  Players and Controllers do not connect to each other, only to a server.  Some players (Radio & Touch) can act as a Controller for other players, and of course any/all players can be Sync'd for playback, but this all requires they all be connected to a server.

Obviously your Controller & Radio are connected to www.MySqueezeBox.com online.  You now must get your Duet receivers to connect to this same online server (absent a local LMS server)..

Thanks!

...now as the Duets won't play the official Spotify app (other than with Triode's plugin through the server) it looks like I'm going to have to bite the "installing a server" bullet to get my Spotify account through my Duet Receivers... thanks again. :smileyvery-happy:

Correct.  Spotify limited it's offerings to only the new players Touch & Radio.  To use Spotify on older players like your Duet you must use Triode's third party plugin, therefore requiring (limiting you) to running LMS server.  This is a Spotify restriction, not a Logitech/SqueezeBox restriction.  :smileywink:
