Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

OK before I get all sorts of abuse.. :smileyvery-happy:  Has the Duet now been discontinued?

It can be purchased through the DSG group for near enough half price.

The Logitech website shows it as available at full price, but when googling SB Duet discontinued?  various links are now showing comments to suggest the Duet has infact been given the chop.

Any truth in this please guys?

Yes, that is correct, the Squeezebox Duet has in fact been officially discontinued.

Re: Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

Is there an official announcement somewhere to be read?

I mean we have heard several times that the Boom/Duet/Reciever is discontinued but never the less we can still buy them from Logitechs websites and other vendors.

So it would be nice with an offical statement from Logitech for a change and not just an answer on a forum from  (no disrespect) just a support specialist.

Re: Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

THank you KKM10,

Does that mean that the Squeezebox range will be discontinued altogether, and if so will not receive any software updates or support in the future?

I have three receivers and run off a Qnap server, will they all now be defunct?

Re: Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

That is about as "official" as you are going to get.  When the player is no longer available (no longer in stock) the Logitech SqueezeBox web site will say that item is discontinued or that item will be removed all together.

Touch and Radio are still in production, their Revue product is being incorporated into MySB and SBS server, so there is no indication they are discontinuing the entire SqueezeBox product range any time soon.  In fact it is more likely there is a new player model (or two) in development.

Even if they stopped all support you would still have what you have now:  SBS server for your PC/MAC/NAS

The original SqueezeBox player, the Slimp device, is still supported today ten years later.

The only real worry in your scenario is ending MySB.com, but as that is being updated for the Revue player, so that is likely another two year commitment at minimum.  Any new player offerings and you are likely extending MySB support another 4 years if not longer.

Enjoy the music and quit hand wringing over the speculative demise of the SqueezeBox.  :smileywink:

Re: Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

@Chunksta

No, the whole range will not be discontinued, nothing to worry about there. As more software/firmware updates are developed they will also be released for all Squeezebox products, even the ones that are no longer being manufactured such as the Duet and Squeezebox Boom. They will most definitely still be supported just no longer manufactured.

Re: Squeezebox Duet Discontinued?

How about MySB.com? And browse/search function from the controller? Will these continue to be supported for the Duet?

Thanks
