Hello,
I have a Squeezeboz Duet, and I've never before tried the playback option from the Duet controller.
I found the playback option (Settings>advanced>Beta features>audio playback>Enable Playback (BETA) ) but it doesn't seem to work, I have no sound output (except the beeps when selecting menu items).
I'm using the latest Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 and I tried playback of both FLAC and MP3 files. Playback of both is fine through the Duet receiver.
Any ideas? Is there anything else I need to do to make this work?
Thanks,
Simon.

You are using headphones with the Controller, correct?

and in the controller, you've gone to menu item CHOOSE PLAYER and chosen the controller as the player?

Here is an article about it:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_C
Be aware that starting with firmware 7.4 no fileformat other than 128kBit mp3 yields to good results on the Controller.
You will hear cracklings all the time.
Also the Controllers switching to Headphones never has been very reliable, but this can be cirumvented with my Headphone Switcher Plugin (should be available via the Applet Installer on the Controller).
Finally the battery power of the Controller is not the very best with playback, so fun will be limited.
Much better reliable streaming nowadays can be achieved with either an iPhone or Android smartphone and the respective Apps that allow streaming.
SqueezePlayer will stream all your music to your Android Device! Now available on Android market.
On iPad SqueezePad will stream your music and remote control your Squeezeboxes.

Thanks for the tips.
Doesn't sound like this will be the option for me, even if I could get it working....
I was hoping this would give me a better experience than streaming via my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus) with Squeezeplayer.
Squeezeplayer works OK most of time (can be buggy), but synchronisation doesnt work very well at all, which is a shame (was trying to have small speaker in kitchen, synched with main hi-fi in living room). It seems to start off OK, and gradually drift out of sync after a few minutes.

sounds like a SB Radio would be perfect in the kitchen. get a battery for it and it can become useful on your deck as well. And synch is perfect wih the other SBs in your main hifi. Sounds pretty good for a small mono player....

Oh what a pity ![]()
If you need some background information (though unfortunately it won't help you with the Nexus), I wrote a blog post about the trouble with Synchronization on (some) Android devices:

I also think your best bet will be a Squeezebox Radio then. Have one in my kitchen as well and believe me: the Controller playback wouldn't have made you happy in your kitchen anyway.

That's a good & interesting article. Dissapointing that Android phones like the Nexus One (which I just sold - doh), and the Galaxy S2 have been reported as having good synchronisation, but my (newer more powerful!) Samsung Galaxy Nexus does not.
Anyway, what the heck, have been thinking about a squeezebox radio for a while now, so I took the plunge and made the purchase.
Will post back in a few days to say how I find it!

OK, so my Squeezebox radio has arrived ! Hooray! Setup was very easy, the unit looks nice enough, and easy to get onto the internet radio features.
But a big dissapointment with the sound. Even at low volumes there is a buzzing noise that accompanies any bass notes or even low sounds during talking. The only way to stop this is to turn the volume way down to 20-30% max, any higher and I can hear this buzzing sound.
Surely, this isn't how it should sound? I guess maybe the unit is faulty?

Sure doesn't sound right, no. Might try it in a different part of the house. Maybe there is interference or possible line noise at it's current location? If that fails, maybe try a Factory Reset, reload the latest firmware, try again?
