Well nothings fixed my problem. Logitech support came back to me suggested similar things to what your guys had already said (ie. changing channel etc). In the end they've offered a good-will of 50% off a new Radio because mine is more than 2 years old. I will keep trying a few things on my router before deciding what to do.

I have had a similar problem to all of the comments above. Worked fine for several months, then worked intermittently. Called Logitech and they had me do factory resets, modem resets, etc. Nothing seemed to help. Finally, I noticed that when setup failed, there was an option to enter IP addresses manually. I called my Internet Service Provider for help with the issue. The person I talked to said they had 3 calls recently asking for assistance with squeezebox. They provided me with IP addresses that I could enter for the Squeezebox IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS. I entered all of these manually and the Squeezebox radio has been connecting to wi-fi ALMOST flawlessly now. If I turn it off completely, it will not reconnect unless I unplug and replug the modem. However, it is much better now. BTW, the issue started after an automatic firmware update.

I think they just had you setup a fixed IP on your SB radio. I do this with all my things that stay on the same network.

I only just picked up a SBR last week, and the radio side of things works perfectly, but streaming my own music collection ends up in the connection being dropped consistently. The wifi router is only in the next room, and my laptop gets a perfect signal when it's right out in the garden - more than double the length away from the wifi signal. The SBR is showing a perfect signal, but just randomly loses it.
Worth persevering with, or returning it as it seems to be a very common problem, and a terrible design fault?

Neal,
So when streaming internet stations it works fine? Only has issues when trying to stream from your own music library on your WiFi laptop? If yes, tried the laptop wired for a test?

UPDATE: I got a new SBR but had some of the same problems. I was getting rather frustrated but decided to change one last thing - increase my DHCP lease length. This worked!
I normally keep my DHCP very short so it clears out devices that I only connect intermittently to my wifi. It looks like the SBR does not automatically try to reestablish connection if the lease expires. It seems to think it has a valid IP, but since it isn't working, oh well. As long as the least doesn't expire it does okay.
Logitech: This is the only device I own that has a problem like this. If the device has an IP but is not getting a response from the router over it (or there is an IP conflict because it has been reassigned) it should attempt to get a new DHCP address/lease automatically.

Well, my problems with the SBR have gotten progressively worse. I was able to add a static IP address after endlessly fiddling wth it. Then it seemed to finally see my wifi network, but now I get NO SOUND!!! What the hell? No, it's not muted and the volume is up quite a bit. I tried several stations. No go. I reset back to factory defaults. Nothing is working with this thing and I haven't been able to play it successfully for weeks. I'm at the end of my rope. I hope Logitech does something about this. Usually I am very happy with their products, but this one really just stinks. :-(

Had to reset to factory defaults AGAIN, update firmware AGAIN and fiddle with it AGAIN to get it to connect. And I don't know what the magical combination of events is that brings up the options to set a static IP address for the thing. It isn't always on the list. *sigh*

A SB player can certainly cause one to see WIFI problems that were never noticed before. Streaming audio requires a much better WIFI connection than surfing the net or email, etc.
First, I'd make sure I'm using a channel that is not otherwise used/crowded. 1, 6, 11 are best (as they don't overlap with other channels). Use something like free "inSSIDer" program to see what channels other nearby users are using.
Second, sometimes moving the router a matter of inches in any direction can drastically change the WIFI strength.
Third, I find the DHCP implementation a little problematic in SB players. I set all my SB players to have fixed IP addresses (not just reserved IP addresses in router). This avoids a lot of hiccups that can happen with DHCP, etc. But there is no menu item/setup item directly to set a fixed ip address for the Radio or TOUCH (unlike the older players like the BOOM or SB3). The easist way to do this is:
1. Temporarily turn off DHCP in your router
2. do a reset of the RADIO. It will try to get an IP address during setup, then fail and offer up a menu item to manually add IP address (may need to scroll down to bottom of screen)
3. give the radio an IP addresss that is outside the range of IP addresses your router hands out (mine starts handing out addresses at 192.168.1.100). My router IP address is 192.168.1.1
4. So I give the radio something like:
IP: 192.168.1.25 (this .25 could be anything between .2 and .99)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
any 1 digit #'s above can be entered in SB players as 001 if needed (i.e., 192.168.001.001
5. Then the radio will connect using this IP address.
6. turn DHCP back ON in router
Finally, an approach which avoids wifi altogether might be best. Powerplugs (ethernet over powerlines) can work very well. For example, I've used these (plug and play!):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ILFFS6/ref=oh
(cheaper ones that have lower speed work fine too, hi speed is not needed for audio, but might be for video).

something odd is going on or the firmware update is never completing. once the firmware is updated once, it should stick (until some future firmware update, but at the moment, you should only have to do it once). see my other post about setting a fixed IP address.
