Re: Squeezebox Radio keeps dropping wifi connection

DebbieKat,  I've had exactly the same issue.   I've just raised a support call with Logitech, I am not sure how responsive they will be.  My radio has been fine for over 1 year but started mis-behaving about 3 weeks ago.  I have two other Squeezebox devices on the same wifi and they are both fine.

Re: Squeezebox Radio keeps dropping wifi connection

Something is obviously going on. There are at least 3 of us now that only just started experiencing this issue. Does anyone from Logitech browse these boards?

rarely, I'd contact support directly.

Something may or not be going on related to SB. At any given point in time, hundreds of SB users are having problems, but the problems are typically something in their local network. And do keep in mind that the fact that everthing else on the network working doesn't mean there is a problem with the squeezebox (if I had a dollar for everytime someone said this, but it turned out to be some non-SB problem, I'd be rich).  But I digress. Back to your issue:

1. Try unplugging and replugging (rebooting) your router itself.

2. Have you tried to install something like inSSIDer to see what other local WIFI networks are nearby. Use a channel not heavily used nearby (1, 6, 11 are best becasue they don't overlap nearby channels).  don't use a channel > 11 and don't use the "auto" channel switching in your router if it has this.

3. make sure you test on various sources (different internet radio stations, pandora, etc., just to be sure that the problem isn't isolated to a particular source).

Hi Gary -

I've already tried 1. Didn't change anything. Also, installed latest update, unplugged the squeezebox and restarted, moved it to different room to try it, reselected my wireless network several times.

inSSIDer is only for windows machines. I'm on a Mac.

It won't play any other stations when this occurs as it isn't finding my network.

My other devices, such as the laptop I'm typing this on, are not affected at all.

I actually brought the device into the room here with my while I typed this and it has done it again. It's happening more and more frequently.

I just logged a support ticket.

Re: Squeezebox Radio keeps dropping wifi connection

defintely sounds like a wifi connection issue of some sort.  There must be some equivalent to inSSIDer for a Mac. Just google it.  If you want to isolate the problem to be sure it is wifi and not the radio, you can connect the radio to your router with ethernet cable and test. Be sure to go through network setup again when connected (just pluggin in the ethernet cable doesn't automatically switch to ethernet from wifi).  If problem still there with ethernet, then it is something with the radio itself, not WIFI.   (but this does sound like a wifi connection issue so far...)

Again, nothing new has happened with firmware, mysb.com versions, LMS version, etc. in the last month (maybe not in the last several months...I can't recall when LMS 7.7.2 was released and became the standard at mysb.com, but it was not in the last month)

good luck

Thanks Gary! I'll check these out. I have it playing again now and it hasn't cut out recently (since that last post). Such weird behavior.

Re: Squeezebox Radio keeps dropping wifi connection

DebbieKat what version of LMS are you running?

I am running LMS 7.7.2 on a Netgear ReadyNas Duo,  I wonder if my issue is a ReadyNas related issue, however the other devices are all working fine.

Re: Squeezebox Radio keeps dropping wifi connection

is it an older readynas duo or the newer v2 version?  I abandoned use of my older readynas duo for squeezeboxes a few years ago. too underpowered to do decent scanning and file browsing, etc.  Probably related to library size (at the time I had about 60,000 tracks)
