FYI: yesterday my Squeezebox Radio got updated to 7.7.2 r9663. Today around 3-3:30 Pacific Time I turned it on and got no volume. I could change stations and the display looked OK, and it looked like the song was playing (the little white progress dot appeared to be moving), and (of course) I adjusted the volume knob, but no sound. Rebooted and it was OK.
Usually my Squeezebox Radio is synced with a Squeezebox Boom in the other room, and it had been playing when I changed rooms and turned on the Radio. I was probably listening to Slacker, or perhaps Pandora.
Also FYI, I can never seem to get the firmware updates to download successfully unless I first reboot the unit, and then it works fine. It's not a big problem to do that, but it's disconcerting to tell it to download the new update and have it continually fail, unless I do the reboot (and I'm a very technical customer--what about those who wouldn't have a clue to do that?).

I'm experiencing the same issues.
Also I am a technical user and love the squeezebox. I have recommended the squeezebox to many friends and relatives, but when issues like this arise it makes me think twice.

Yeah, the firmware updates for squeezeboxes are quite funny. For some it works like magic and for the rest, it plays hard to get until you say "work or I will have to restart you with a defibrillator". Have been doing some reading and a lot of them suggest doing a factory reset as a one stop solution. Its a little time consuming but it fixes the issue..

Updates will not end until Logitech decides to abandon the SqueezeBox line. I'd expect about two updates per year, these are necessary to add/change services, update MySB.com, etc...
What stations can not be selected and from where? Presets? Favorites? Internet Radio menu?
Checked your screensaver settings? No black screen here after updates. If not streaming anything the screen will go to whatever you have selected for Off or Stopped, which may be set to "nothing". Did you do a Factory reset? That will wipe out your saved screen settings.

FYI, the original posted problem has not reoccurred for me. I'm having other problems (many with Slacker, to a much lesser degree with Pandora, and the occasional very minor glitch). The Slacker problem is the biggest one, and that one is addressed in a different forum posting, and Logitech Tech Support says they're aware of it and working on it.
