Squeezebox Touch realtime clock is slower then it should be.

My Squeezebox touch is running behind in time. The only thing that helps is removing the power plug, wait ten seconds and then insert the power again. But after a couple of days (2 or 3) the time is again off by a few minutes. Because I use it as a server (with a 64 Gig usb stick) it's also affecting my squeezebox radio (which functions as my allarm clock). Quite anoying.

Can't Logitech create an app that synchronizes time once every few hours?

Or is there another way to correct the time without removing the power cord?

Thanks,

Touch's clock is updated by the server it is connected too.  So if you connect it to LMS server on a computer it will get the updated time from that computer.  Or just connect it to MySB.com once per week, it will update it's time, then connect it back to itself.  Without a server connection the Touch's inbuilt server will clock drift about 5 minutes per week.

Re: Squeezebox Touch realtime clock is slower then it should be.

Thanks for the clear answer. But can't there be an app created that fixes the time once every few hours?

Or a setting in the menu to sync the time again? 5 Minutes in a week time is way to much.

The rest of the functionality (Touch as a server) is very rewarding and power-saving (instead of running a NAS or a PC for instance). It's only the clock-behind thing that is missing in a perfect working setup.

I wouldn't wait for a program fix.  The quickest & easiest fix to correct time drift on a Touch is connecting it to MySB.com every now & then.  You can move the "switch to MySB.com" menu item to the Home menu for a quick fix.  This makes it a two click fix both from the Touch's Home menu.  Select "switch to MySB.com" then select My Music (which connects the Touch back to it's inbuilt server).

It solves the problem.... Temporarily.  It is shameful that Logitech hasn't fixed this problem, which would be very easy as any Linux computer system knows how to set its own clock!

LOGITECH -- WHY HAVEN'T YOU FIXED THIS YET?  I have a squeezebox in every room in my house and ALL THE CLOCKS ARE WRONG BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T FIX IT.

This is what I would consider a rather embarrassing problem for a high-tech product from high-tech company :smileyembarrassed:! I could probably have a more accurate alarm clock for 10 EUR in the local supermarket. But apart from this issue I really love my Touch!

I have had my Squeezebox Touch since it first came out.  Clock always looses time when using the Touch internal server for a  32GB SD card. Currenty running 7.7.2.
