Squeezebox Players

Hi there,

I ahve a brand new touch and have downloaded the server but it will onyl start in safe mode. Even if I turn off all the plugins I can it still fails.

There is not even an entry written to the log.

Any thoughts?

Turning off the 3rd Party Plugins should help you resolve this issue.

 If it is not doing it, then I would request that you do the following:

 1, Re-visit the Web Settings and ensure all the 3rd Party Plugins are unchecked and then Apply the changes

 2, Close out of everything.

 3, Close out of Squeezebox Server Control Panel and ensure that it is stopped and not running

 4, Restart your Computer

 5, Reopen the Server Control Panel and start the Server

 6, From the Touch, try accessing the Server and playing some Music

 If you have any Firewalls or Anti Virus Softwares, try turning them off or ensure the exceptions for your Squeezebox Server is enabled correctly.

 Let me know how it goes.

I only just saw I got a reply to this!

Still having same trouble though

I think this is a Windows7 issue as when I try to start the server I get a windows prompt about allowing the app to make changes and then it fails.

when you install LMS, can you right click the install file and "install as administrator"  Are you running as a user that has administrator rights?

So do I need to install it as admin rather than just run it as admin? I'm running it as admin already but that makes no difference and also won't work on startup

I'd try installing as admin. can't hurt.  Also, what antivirus program are you using?

Right, I've reinstalled as admin and disabled all plugins through the web interface.

When I first login and run the LMS Windows gives me a prompt 'are you sure...' Click yes

When I get into the control panel and click 'start server' windows prompts me again 'are you sure...' Click yes and a terminal window flashes up and closes (too fast to see any content) and ...nothing. The server does not start and nothing in the log.

If I select 'Safe Mode' and click 'start server' I get no windows warning and no terminal flashing up but the server starts.

Something ain't right I'm sure...

I'm out of ideas other than possible AntiVirus program blocking something.  I've installed many versions on several win7 and XP machines and never seen this issue.

by the way, the quickly flashing "black box" when starting LMS/SbS is normal. I always see this.

Sorry I meant to say that I have no AV running, I just have windows 'security' set to recommended.
