I set up my new Touch wirelessly and all was fine apart from a few minor dropouts on internet radio. Later I decided to put in an ethernet cable and that is when the problems started. For at least an hour yesterday I struggled with the pc showing that the touch was indeed on the home network but the touch kept telling me either the pc was not present or it was not running media server, eventually it all started working fine but I haven't a clue what I had changed, this morning however it is back to the same problem, go back to a wifi connection and everything works but not over ethernet. I have restored factory settings and started again but with no success.
Any ideas?

Is the server PC wired to the router? Using WiFi on the player for internet radio should be easily accomplished as such streams are very low bandwidth.
With Touch on WiFi, try these:
1. go to Touch > Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > Wireless Info, what is the signal strength?
2. try connecting Touch directly to MySqueezeBox.com online instead of LMS server, play those same stations, still rebuffer/studder playback issues?
Also does your router use a Guest network? Your player may be on one network (guest) while your PC may be on another network (main) both within your router.

What stations are streaming FLAC? What happens with regular stations like MP3 format? Are you using any software players?
BT routers are known to be troublesome with SqueezeBox players. Best guess is you have a network problem somewhere, your Touch should see LMS on your PC using wired or WiFi. Checked the IP's when using WiFi to ensure they are indeed on the same network?

rozhlas, cesnet and maybe houston radio, I have been trying as many high bitrate stations as I can find from bbc3 hd, linn etc.
I will try your other suggestions tomorrow as all seems to be working fine at present and I am taking advantage of a peaceful evening to enjoy it while it is working and I can get back to the problems tomorrow.
Many thanks for your help, I'll let you know what happens.

Might just need to add the proper exceptions into the firewall so it ignores the Squeezebox. You should be able to use both firewalls, one each on both computer & router, without issue.

Thanks, I'll check into that later as it is happily playing away at the moment.
Thanks for the help.
