Station Artwork & Description Display Does Not Update on SB Radio

Problem 1: Station artwork does not display on known stations that provide artwork.  The station artwork has always had trouble loading/displaying with prior firmwares, but with 9009, this problem has gotten worse.  Previously for example, with older firmware, if I go directly to the Technicolor Web of Sound stream (http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s51172&partnerId=16), the radio artwork would occasionally display.  Now it never does.  I use to be able to go to a stream on Pandora first whose artwork would always display and would act like a reset to the radio's artwork routine, then go to Technicolor Web of Sound, and the artwork would display.  But this no longer works with 9009.  What's the use of having this nice looking display on the radio if it's always going to display the default black & white antenna tower?

Problem 2:  The station name & descripton scroll at the top will not update to the new station when you change from one station to another.  Example:  Play CoastGab.com stream (a radiotime steam).  Switch to Technicolor Web of Sound Stream.  Top of Display still says CoastGab.

Hope this gets fixed soon.  Defeats the purpose of having an internet radio with a display.

Re: Station Artwork & Description Display Does Not Update on SB Radio

I  also have problem 1 with my Squeezebox Radio 7.5.1 r9009. Had the same problem with 7.5.1 r8837 as well.

I used to have problem 2  when 7.5.1 r8837 was installed but one day the problem went away. And this happened before I updated to 7.5.1 r9009.

Others in the slimdevices forum are reporting Problem #2 with 9009 too.  You might want to try it again now that you have 9009 installed.  I will defer to that point "somewhere down the road" where it goes away on it's own like it did for you.

Re: Station Artwork & Description Display Does Not Update on SB Radio

Ditto here with problem #1 on SqueezeBox Radio version 7.5.1-r9009 .  Quite often, playing Pandora stations, the song details and artwork won't display.  Instead it shows the "Current Playlist" screen, with the word "Nothing" under it.

This seems to happen mostly after listening to a podcast or archived internet radio program, and then switching back to Pandora.  Sometimes I've seen it happen after controlling the box from my PC using the mysqueezebox.com Remote Control feature.

So far, the only way I've found to get rid of the problem is to unplug the box, wait a few moments and then plug it back in.  Then the Pandora song details start displaying again.

This is a clear bug and I'm hoping to hear news on a patch to fix the problem.

I'm having the same problem.  Started with the last firmware update.  Typical problem...firmware updates fix one problem and then create another one.

Re: Station Artwork & Description Display Does Not Update on SB Radio

I've encountered this problem with Rhapsody and Pandora on my SBRadio.  The radio displays playlists, channels, etc., and it plays them, but  without the album artwork.  The control features on the + key are also missing - which is problematic with Pandora in particular, as you can't "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" tracks.

I've been unable to find any sequence of operations that reliably fixes this -  it seems to come and go at random.  It may be related to an "unable to connect to mysqueezebox.com" error that appears and disappears too quickly to be read fully, but without apparent cause: the diagnostics looked normal and the IP address, 66.151.159.227 (nat.sv.squeezenetwork.com) could be pinged without packet loss or significant latency.  The problem appears with the 7.5.1 r9009 software, but a trial "downgrade" to the radio from Squeezebox Server v7.4.0 failed to resolve it.

The SqueezeOS Architecture description cites two modes of operation: (1) when the user has one or more SqueezeCenters on the local network, all players are connected to the SqueezeCenter and Internet services (e.g. Pandora and Rhapsody artwork and controls?) are available via an OPML/http connection from SqueezeNetwork; or (2) when the user is not using SqueezeCenter (either they don’t have it installed or the PC is turned off,) players are connected directly to SqueezeNetwork.  It seems to be that the “PC is turned off” part of the second scenario is problematic.

Having gone back to square one with a factory reset, deleting the radio from mysqueezebox.com and reinstalling it, Rhapsody and Pandora are now working again.  I won't run the Squeezebox Server so the radio can't connect.  We'll see if that makes any difference.

I have no Squeezebox Server, if that makes a difference -- same problem.

Re: Station Artwork & Description Display Does Not Update on SB Radio

[ Edited ]

I noticed the problem right after a 7.5.1 r9009 software upgrade while my SB Server was shut down.  When I restarted the server, the Pandora and Rhapsody Apps resumed displaying album art, and they continued to do so even after the server was again shut down.  I thought the one-time exposure to the server might been a post-upgrade fix until the problem reappeared the next day.  What is different right now is that the radio has not connected to an SB Server since the factory reset. Attempting to access "MyMusic" now results in instructions to download and install SB Server on my PC.  I still have the server installed, but it is shut down and disabled in the PCs startups.

My purpose in the experiment was to put my SB Radio in the state of a Rhapsody/Pandora/Internet Radio-only user who takes a new SBRadio out of the box, creates the mysqueezebox.com account as instructed, dials the username and password into the radio, then uses those services only, never connecting the radio to a squeezebox server or allowing it to connect.  Thus far, after an overnight soak, a few power interruptions,  and an intentional router interruption, I see no problem: the radio is playing Rhapsody and Pandora with album art.
